Calibration tools for front projectors
Ok, for those who own front PJs, what calibration tools do you use to calibrate the video settings of your PJ? Avia? DVE? Eye-ball? ISF tech?
Peace...

One comment I've read from some ISF techs about calibration is sometimes people need to adjust to the new picture after calibration since their eyes are adjusted to the old settings. Sometimes the immediate results are desirable and sometimes they might not be even though the work was done by a professional.
Peace...

It attaches to the screen(or you hold it up), and it measures the color temp, and tells you how far off it is, it's actually made to calibrate monitors, but it works for pjs too. People report great success with it, it'll run about $300 I think. It's a consumer friendly version of Color Facts, which works the same way to adjust the image to the NTSC standard. So if your serious about it, Spyder is the way to go. I've gotten my color good enough I never felt a need for it.

I've used DVD Essentials and AVIA. Good results came from both. Later, I had an ISF tech calibrate my Z2 and the results were better yet.
In hindsight, I probably wouldn't go for the $550 calibration again given the $1,600 price tag of the PJ. I'd love to try the Digital DVD Essentials just to see how much better the ISF calibrated picture looked in comparison, if at all, to me. But hey, what is done, is done. ![]() |
