Opinions on Onkyo receivers

Hey guys! I would like to know what your opinions are on Onkyo receivers. As you might know, my Pioneer Elite is on the brink of death. It's gotten to the point to where I just can't take it anymore - so it's time to get a new receiver.

I decided to make a sacrifice and go without the Vader helmet I have on order to make this happen. The receiver I'm looking at getting is the TX-SR703 http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=...s=Receiver&p=i . From what I seem to remember is Onkyo makes pretty good receivers.

I've been checking around and I can get this from OneCall for about $630 shipped. What I'm interested in is how good the sound quality is and how Onkyo's compare to Pioneers'. I've only owned two receivers - both Pioneers (VSX-07TX and the VSX-26TX). This will be driving Vega's for the mains, Polk CS400 for the center, Polk RT5's for the surrounds and a pair of Definitive Technology 15TL+ subs.

Onkyo is a great brand, but I would stick with Pioneer.

If you're buying at OneCall, I would check out the Pioneer VSX1015TX. It's got 120Wx7 power and MCACC and it's less expensive.

Peace...

I've got the 5.1 model (502 I believe). Replaced Sony because I needed multiple optical inputs. I've been very happy with the quality.
