Need some help from the experts..
I am having trouble getting my upconvert to work from my new dvd player. Here is the setup -
TV: Samsung TXN3075WHF - 16:9 Widescreen Aspect Ratio Digital TV High Definition Monitor 1080i Capable Display Progressive Scan 480p DVD Compatible DynaFlat™ HD Anti-Distortion, Anti-Glare Flat Picture Tube New Finer Pixel Dot Pitch Flat CRT Improves Picture Resolution and Brightness Pro Picture 3-Stage Video Correction - Total DSP (Digital Signal Processing) Analog to Digital Signal Enhanced - Pro Chip Plus Converts All Analog Signals to Flicker-Free Progressive Scan - 3-Line Digital Comb Filter Velocity Scan Modulation Improves Edge Detail 3:2 Pull Down Film to Video Frame Rate Correction Screen Filling Modes & Vertical Compression for Anamorphic DVDs DVD Player is the Oppo 970HD connected via component. I have the hacked firmware installed to allow upconvert through component. I also have a Onkyo TX-SR604 receiver. The screen seems out of sync. I can see two images of the screen side by side, but blurry. It looks like a computer screen when it is out its frequency. I will try to post a picture if I am not explaining this very well. My TV can handle a 720P signal, at least coming from my digital set top box. The picture is the same from the dvd connected directly to the tv or through the receiver. Is there something I need to connect to, to "clean up" the signal or am I SOL with my current TV. Thanks for the help. |

Umm...
There is a wire crossing the front of the screen, that is causing RFI causing your player to output a tripple image that the TV cannot handle ![]() J/K What is your DVD Player set to upconvert to? 1080i or 1080p? I doubt that tv has the capability to display 1080p. But I'm sure you already checked that. Will the TV display the DVD signal at 720p? will the TV display your cable box at 1080i? Check that, and double check the settings on your DVD Player... j

You are correct, the tv can only go up to 1080i. From my digital set top box, I can get both 1080i and 720p signals to the tv with no problem (sports look great!!). The dvd player is set to output at 720P. When I push the dvd player to 1080i the screen comes in clear, but it isn't in 1080i it looks the same as 480. I think I toggled every setting under the sun on both the TV and DVD player. Is there something in the way a dvd player send the signal that is different than on the tuner box? Something with the interlacing perhaps?

Did you try switching the input the DVD player is coming in on?
I only ask because my SO picked up the king of cheap, crappy LCD TVs this past Xmas and I was never able to get the set to accept a 480p signal from our old 5-Disc Panansonic player. When I finally got ahold of their tech support I was told that "Oh, Component 2 can't handle progressive signals. Have you tried Component 1?" Sure enough Component 1 worked. Anyway, not being familiar with your display's inputs I figured I'd take a stab at it. Hope someone comes up with something that works! |
