how hard is it to blow a subwoofer

I just bought a new onkyo system, which I love. It has a 250w subwoofer, with a knob in back, plus a speaker level setting. I am worried about blowing it, but I love bass. How hard is it to do this?

If it was later in the day, I'm almost afraid to think of how I would have responded to this.

I'd imagine not hard at all if you crank its output beyond its capabilities. Does the manual mention anything about a built in safety shut off? What model Sub is it?

I wouldn't worry about it. i used a 100w Velodyne for years, it was cranked to the max, and the recievers sub volume was at max, my brother still uses it to this day. If it still concerns you, do an audio calibration of the system, the approapriate sub volume level will be well away from max, so if you still want more bass, just crank it a few knotches.

Yeah, subs are generally pretty tough. Still, I have my Hsu cranked well below Noon.

For some reason I assumed jbat31's sub is part of a HTIB, and thus my response thinking it probably could be easy enough.

Where the hell is jbat31 anyway?
