DLP dimming?
I have a 2004 Samsung HL-P5085W and over the past few weeks I'm really beginning to notice very blatant banding of shadows and "shallow" shadows just don't look right on a lot of material over all connections.
I've haven't replaced the bulb yet, so I'm wondering if it's about time I should? I certainly hope it's not the actual display and me never noticing until now, because it's very annoying. Otherwise everything else I'm content with. |

I went into the service menu and adjusted the Lamp Boost from 20 (default) to 10, the picture was terrible, I cranked it up to 60 and it's a noticeable improvement.
Temporary fix I know, but at least now I know it's the bulb dimming and not my set looking like shit to begin with and me never noticing. |

Your TV should have a lamp timer. If it is getting up around 2K hours, it could be time to replace it...

Though it seems Samsungparts.com has the bulb and assembly for $150. [quote] Quote:
