New Pioneer Elite Receiver for chlngr1970

So, the GF got a rather nice check in the mail for and escrow overpayment, so we now have a Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS. I was going to try and get the 84, but Magnolia had to order it, and I wanted it today Took me a while to get it installed, but I am SO glad I stepped up to the Elite series of AVR. We watched Hidalgo so far. I'll post some impressions when I get to watch a few HD-DVDs using HDMI.

Congrats! That is certainly a beauty.

Can't wait to read your review on HD DVD/DOLBY TrueHD. Do you have BD, to compare it with Uncompressed 5.1 PCM.

I need to go to bed. LOL

No BR in MY house, thankyouverymuch! So far, I like this receiver. Like I said above, I haven't watched any HDDVDs on it. I may pop in one of the problematic discs ( IIRC Superman Returns gave me some problems ) and watch it with DTHD.

Sweet!!!! Definitely makes me jealous, while at the same time, I'm still very happy with my Pioneer Elite VSX-24TX.

That thing looks HUGE!!! I wonder how this receiver compares to the equivalent counter parts from Denon, Yamaha, and Onkyo.

Will you be using analog audio connections for DTHD audio playback on HD DVD discs?

Peace...

Nice receiver!

I actually looked at this model at Magnolia yesterday. My next receiver will most likely be a Pio Elite.

Though one thing I don't understand is why these high end receivers have a bunch of composite connections. I mean, cmon', composite? Dunno, maybe once I have 6 composite INs I'll be like "Damn, I see now!"

Nice! I love my ELITE, but it's gettin' kinda old now. That's nice looking model.

It looks like it's built for bluray in mind. We'll see you in the fold soon enough.

We should add countdown clocks for each member.

I think it could be a little taller

The receiver looks awesome.

What I like best is when i looked for retailers in my local area from your posted link, this was the first listing:

Why would I want an overpriced, underutilized format?

Spoiler (Highlight or Triple Click to Read):
I'm quoting the lady I was with last night...

I wonder how this Pioneer Elite would compare/compete against this behemoth.

Peace...

Well, one thing to consider...that Denon costs almost 7X what the Elite cost ( almost 10X what it cost me ) so, I HOPE it would well outperform my Pioneer by a wide margin. Also, I only WISH I had the inputs that the Denon has. then I wouldn't have to be sharing inouts for all my stuff
