Quirky things your equipment does?
My Samsung HLP-5085W DLP has a circular display below the screen that lights up during start up and shutdown. When powering the set on rings light up and from the center outward, when they make the final outer edge circle a smiley face appears and its eyes blink twice, then the circular display fades to black. Also a funny upbeat tone plays as to say "Here I am!"

When we FFWD or RWD the DirecTV DVR, the ring in the center spins acording which way we are going....and pulses when it is paused...

My old RCA HTiB system would pick up my local airport discussions with the pilots flying near by/over my house between the hours 3:30pm - 5:00pm. Only happen when i played my tv's sound through my HTiB and only on channel 14 of my tv. Haven't had anything happen since i bought my Marantz receiver about 4 years ago. Oh and the airport is really more of a traning facility

We're still getting by with a Sony Wega KV-27FV16; SD 27". It was the high end model at the time and feature a 16:9 Wide mode for anamorphic video. The additional resolution is terrific, and was especially so before HDTVs started becoming more mainstream. The problem... turning on the mode is not a simple toggle, and is too complex for a reliable macro; press: menu, left, left, down 6, over 1, up one, menu. Newer models have Auto 16:9, and I can understand that feature not being implemented on older models, but having to dig for it is ridiculous. If it was a permanent setting, it'd be fine. But no, it's lost whenever the TV is turn off or the input toggled. This is just another example of what makes me dislike Sony so much. Wonderful display; poor implementation. It didn't help that the first was DOA, and required lugging 180lbs back down the stairs and back to Sears.
Seriously though... great TV otherwise.
