PAL questions...

The 576p PAL picture seems "compressed" with my Denon 2910:

Denon's Set-up menu in 480p NTSC:

In 576p PAL:

This affects the picture of material above 1.78, but not below 1.78:

(1.33 / 1.66 / 1.78)

Black bar present at 1.85 and above (top of the frame, I know it's hard to see):

Top bar is fatter than bottom bar on 2.35:

Display is receiving 720x576p@50Hz:

Is this normal? I assume the PAL conversion is creating the bar, but would a different PAL-compatible player like an Oppo rectify this somehow? Or is it my display?
