Question for Denon 3300 owners...

Hi, I'm sort of new to the home theater craze, but I just picked up a Denon 3300 and some Energy speakers and I have a quick setup question. (Sorry if this is a silly question by the way). I was wondering what hookups you need in order for the sub to be active while playing music. Right now, all I have connected from the dvd player to the receiver is the optical cable(I think?). I'm sure I'll need some audio connects, but I'm wondering which specific ones I'll need and where I need to connect them. Everything seems to be setup great for home theater, but I'd like the option of having the bass on or off for music, if possible. Again, sorry if this is a dumb question and thanks in advance for any responses.
