What's the best SOUNDING MD portable??
In the dozens of reviews of MD portables I've read, hardly anyone thinks to comment about sound quality.
I'm not so interested in recording capability. I'm not so interested in gimicky features. I want 1. Good sound. 2. Good battery life. 3. Good price. Help me? Anybody out there who isn't afraid to *listen* to some portables and tell me about it? And need I say that I'm talking about comparisons using the same pair of high-quality headphones for all units!!! I want an audiophile review that's not afraid to comment on harsh or flat sounding mids and highs (ie. commenting that a unit has "cool bass boost" is not what I'm after). I've heard portable CD discmans sound pretty different from one another. I'd imagine that the situation with MD portables is similar. I can't do this on my own because there's no store around here (Wilmington, DE) with MD portables put out on display to look at/listen to. Please give me some feedback! (and if the Sharp 702 is the way to go, let me know). thanks, dave dvdboulet@hotmail.com |

I'm not sure if you are aware, but there is a fantastic resource on the net for MD, of which I am a tremendous fan.
http://www.minidisc.org I personally only have the Sony portable that came with the MD bundle a few years back. I've since replaced the 510 with the JB-MD920, but I really only use the portable to play while at work. Hope this helps. ( p.s. I think a friend of mine who is hardcode MD bought the latest Sharp unit that is like the size of a grain of sand )------------------ Rick Lowery DVDFile Forum Administrator ForumAdmin@DVDFile.com |
