Sony STR-DE835 - What gives?
I've been close to buying one of these babys for a couple of weeks now, and to my amazment the price just keeps on rising over at Best Buy. It started at 379 and is up to 399 now and listed as a new item. I'm still interested in getting one and was wondering if anybody out there on the net has a tip on getting one cheaper than $399.99. Thanks a bunch.
Also if anybody has one of these and is greatly unhappy with it, please post and do tell what is wrong/bad. |

People are going to start calling me the Sony / Klipsch man. I love Sony products. I think you made a wise call.

Check out Shop4.com they have it listed for $299 plus $10 shipping (approx). You would have to sign up for the free 3 month trial and later cancel your membership if you don't want to stay a member.
Supremevideo.com has it listed for $349 plus shipping (and sales tax within NY.) --- edited to correct hyperlinks [This message has been edited by rdodolak (edited 08-02-1999).] |

I picked this one up at Sears last month for $359. Not as good as some online pricing, but if I have a problem, they're just a few minutes away.
The STR-DE835 I purchased is most certainly both Dolby Digital and DTS. An extremely good performer for the money. Best of luck! Eric |

This is supposed to be one HOT item. I saw it at Costco for $329, and looked @ some good reviews here:
http://www.audioreview.com/reviews/R...TR-DE835.shtml Most of the people @ the above link have bought them, and may also give you some good purchasing leads. I would sure like to get it, so I can finally start to mess around with the whole DTS schtuff! [This message has been edited by skymalibu (edited 08-02-1999).] |

Ok.... Everybody here is finding pretty good prices. But how reputable are these web sites.
Like inetshopping.com, went there and there stuff is "Brand New" for wholesale prices. Seems weird so I call them and I ask them how long they have been in business. "One year on the web and 20 years retail." How do you get prices so cheap, i ask. "We are close to the source so we dont have to worry about shipping costs, But they are Brand new." Left me feeling weird. I state all this becuase I am looking for a receiver and want the best deal. Any opinions or statements. |

I was kind of concerned myself, but I found the retailer (JoeMamma) through Yahoo's shopping area, so I'm willing to give them a shot. I'll keep you guys updated on my situation, since the price I got seems to be very good.

The 935 has the following additional options:
- 110 watts per channel instead of 100 watts - Multi-room output - 2 way Remote w/ LCD display - 1 additional Audio input and output - 1 additional A/V input Otherwise, everything else is the same. [This message has been edited by rdodolak (edited 08-04-1999).] |

LargePete,
Shop4.com has the STR-DE835 listed incorrectly as Dolby Digital Ready. I emailed Shop4.com about this issue and recieved the following reply from Bob Poplar: -------------------------------------------- Thank you for your e-mail regarding the Sony receiver. You are correct, that was a typographical error that incorrectly identified the receiver. -------------------------------------------- |
