"Raiders" confirmed

According to the norwegian website dvdnett, Indiana Jones' first (and best) adventure is confirmed for a dvd-release in the end of next year. Paramount has confirmed this to the magazine "Release". No info on the exact date, or what goodies will be on the disc.

2002 is going to be a good year....

I'd like to see official confirmation from Paramount directly.

By the way, we've spoken to Paramount this morning, and there's nothing solid to report about that Raiders of the Lost Ark DVD rumor that's been floating around. Apparently, a European DVD magazine claimed that Paramount's confirmed it will be released for the holidays next year. Official word is that there's talk about finally releasing the film to DVD, but nothing has been decided upon. The holidays next year would certainly make sense, but that's a long ways off yet. Just FYI.

I want all three though. I'd live with Raiders though... barely.

I'd love all three as well, but I'd be perfectly content with just Raiders.

This would be great if it were true, but I can't imagine them just releasing Raiders. It seems like they'd put out all three while they were at it. I guess we'll see.

Sure... If they released them seperately, I'd have to pick up Raiders and maybe Last Crusade. On the other hand if the busted out the box set, well, I think I'd have to go that route.

But you all are forgetting the MAIN question here:

Will Indy be carrying a walkie-talkie instead of his whip?

I heard they replaced all the Nazis with US Marines.

I heard the Nazis were being replaced with Red Lectroids.

With all the delays, I'm sure glad I have those laserdiscs. I know, they won't be worth anything when the DVDs come out, but I'll surely have gotten my money's worth out of them by then. End of gloat.

I agree. I've got the widescreen laserdiscs of the trilogy as well, but since I've converted to DVD, I've lost interest in laserdiscs.

The Indiana Jones Trilogy has been one of those constantly bootlegged and found on who knows how many eBay auctions. But I'm going to wait for the official announcement from Lucasfilm and Paramount for a proper release. If anything, it should be done like the Star Wars: Episode One DVD - two discs, multiple animated menus, lots of supplemental features, Easter eggs, the works. Even an isolated score on each film's disc of the great John Williams score would be a nice touch.

If they really do it I have some wishes:

1. release all three episodes at once
2. No EE
3. 2-disc Editions
4- DTS sound

may they hear me

are you with me?

Hopefully at the same time, they'll release all the episodes of the Young Indy Chronicles tv series. (Don't start kvetching at me. I liked the series. :p )

When/If they do, I hope that the present them as they originally aired them on ABC and not edited together into two hour movie format as they were released on VHS. I felt bad for George Hall, the guy who played Old Indy in the set up segments, as his stuff was edited out entirely.

DTS is probably the least likely thing on the discs. I mean, it's Lucas and Paramount, who almost never use DTS, despite Speilberg's liking of it.

I'd love for this to be true. Still, it would be best it they released the trilogy all at once, 2 disc editions (of course) with massive extras, and I would REQUIRE it to have commentary from Spielberg and Ford. Lucas is optional....

So Phreak, if Spielberg doesn't do a commentary for them when they are released, are you going to buy them?

I do hope they do them the way you mentioned -- two disks editions & commentary.

I also think that DTS is not likely, but hey, Paramount might have changed their audio policy by the time they release these.

I saw a really great behind the scenes documentary on TV once for Raiders. I hope they include that.

well, I have been looking on ebay for the LDs of these. Perhaps, I'll wait. . . . nah!

To those who do have the LDs: which is the best version to get?

thanks.

Knowing Paramount the Indy discs will probably be barebones.
