Out of focus on Walt Disney Treasures

Can anyone tell me why there are some out of focus shots in some of the shorts on the two Walt Disney Treasures discs(Mickey Mouse In Living Color & Silly Symphonies)? I have noticed some out of focus shots in the shorts "Lonesome Ghosts" and "The Grasshopper And The Ants"? Is it because of bad DVD authoring by Disney or is it the source material?

well... considering the cartoons in question are almost 70 years old in some cases, I'd be willing to bet it's just a matter of source.
