More Batman (and other) Animated Series Discs on the way!

From today's www.darkhorizons.com

Batman: Animated Series (DVD): Toon Zone has details on what to expect from the not one, but FIVE related "Batman" animated DVDs hitting the US all on April 23rd. As mentioned before, the first five episodes of the series will be released on one disc under the sub-title "The Legend Begins" and will determine whether Warners will go ahead with further issues of the series on disc. Also coming out is the uncut version of "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker" which could possibly be in widescreen, the three part series opener "Secret Origins" for the new "Justice League" TV series, the "Batman & Mr. Freeze: Sub-Zero" flick and the three-part "World's Finest" Batman/Superman episodes. All hitting the same day and all will determine whether already created episodes and/or new animated films will hit the DVD market in the future.
--------------------------------------------

Well, looks like the ball's gonna be in our court. More purchases = more future releases.

Are we up to the task? (I know I know, rhetorical question . . . )

Excellent news. I'm pumped for Justice League.

I haven't seen the Justice League cartoon due to my lack of cable television. But I do, at least, plan on getting the uncut ROTJ and Batman the Animated Series episodes.

The possibility of ROTJ being widescreen worries me. If it was originally drawn that way, why was it full screen in the original release? And if it was originally drawn to be 4:3 (which I'm guessing it was), then they would probably be matting it to make this upcoming release widescreen.

A lot of movies that are made for TV are framed in widescreen even though they're not shown that way when they're broadcast. Granted, ROTJ wasn't shown on TV at all, but it might have been assumed that kids would be put off if it showed up in WS. I'm just guessing, of course.

Re:

I'll skip Justice League...I watched the widescreen presentation of the pilot on TCN, and not having Paul Dini writing really takes a bite out of how good these shows are, IMO. As for ROTJ : DC, Sub Zero, World's Finest, and the first five epsodes disc...well, looks like April 23rd will be taking a bite out of my wallet. I encourage all Batman fans to buy the Animated Series disc, as it it will judge whether or not others are released.
