MGM Midnite Movies - Morons
I just got the MGM "Midnite Movies" release of the 1985 British film comedy "MORONS FROM OUTER SPACE" - partly becuase it is a very funny film in parts, and partly because my Dad worked on it at the Studio I now work at, and I remember visiting the set on a few occaisions!
Anyway, I opened the box, and there is no chapter index paper insert inside - at first I guessed this was because this was one of their low-cost DVDs. Anyone have any other titles, or "Morons", in this series, with or without an insert?? Thanks and Merry Christmas!!

Considering these discs are around $9.99 each... you can't really complain.

Yes, I can complain. It is inexpensive to put a chapter insert in a DVD case. I would pay more for the insert. Also, that is a discount price which you quote. I have seen the Midnite Movies series sold at $14.95, which is $5.00 more than the price which you ciite. I can also state that I purchased Dark Star for $9.99, and it contained a 4 page insert. MGM is just cheap. I expect more from a major studio, so, I will continue to complain. |

Ok... I'll change my response to *I* can't complain... because I tend not to whine.

You consider valid complaints to be whining? Thta is interesting. So, you just accept whatever a DVD manufacturer produces regardless of whether it meets your desires? Being a rational man, I do not. I expect to get value for the money I spend. I expect to get an insert with a chapter list on a major studioe release DVD. In short, unlike you, I actually have standards. Having standards and demanding that they be met is not whining. Whining is more applicable to describing someone who exhorts others not to complain about that which does not satisfy them. |

The lack of inserts is a bit disappointing to me, especially when even Madacy's P.O.S. $4.99 discs come with them.
But even some more 'standard' priced discs don't have them, such as those by Trimark...heck, they don't even always print a label on one-sided discs. Cheap bastards. |

Re: Inserts is a breath mint! No -- it's a candy mint!
I agree that an insert would be nice. So would bonuses beside the usual trailer (and director commentary from Roger Corman on a coupla titles). Nevertheless, I don't see any other major studio releasing vintage B-movies, in all their remastered glory, except for the occasional Universal classic horror title or Columbia late-50s/early 60s William Castle-type stuff, and they cost twice as much as the MGMs. I'd rather have ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE and IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE in a cheap bare-bones package than with an insert for $19.99 (or $24.99, like the Columbias).
As for Madacy, they spend about ten cents on their "remastering", so they can afford an insert. So, c'mon, MGM, give us more titles! How about MUSCLE BEACH PARTY, and INVASION OF THE SAUCER MEN, and THE RAVEN, and COMEDY OF TERRORS, and... |

WOW! I started a war!!
Back to my original post - I thought that, at $9.99, and being a relatively obscure set of flicks, that the Midnite Movies series would not come with inserts. I for one am not too bothered by this - all I wanted to know was if my disc insert was missing. It seems this series doesn't come with 'em. Don't get MGM though - most of their titles have the 8-page booklet - why no 1-page chapter index cards in these, me wonders???

I was a bit perplexed when I opened my Killer Klowns DVD and saw no insert. Considering how much extra crap was thrown on there. I don't 100% remember but I think I came here to ask if I've been jipped and soon realized nobody had an insert. I then threw it on my rack (then a stack, of about 10 DVDs) and was happy that I owned such a beautiful copy of a beautiful B movie.

I think MGM's "Vintage Classics" are also missing the inserts. I got "Lion in Winter" and it was sans insert. The trouble I had with this is that at the time was that I didn't know whether this was intentional or if I should take it back and get another copy.
Of course I never look at the inserts unless they have production notes but I do miss them if they are absent. |

My copy of Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man did not come with an insert. But hey, i'd rather it be 9.99 and no insert than 19.99 with a freaking title card.
See, if it was supposed to come with an insert card, then i'd be pissed, but since no one gets one, then I will be happy. ![]() BTW, TRIMARK sucks, their disks are cheap looking and they print the freaking index on the back of the DVD so they don't have to include an index card. Then, they put a HUGE promotional booklet in there. That really pisses me off. ![]()
