Does anyone have the BMW DVD?
My buddy just called to brag about his new BMW DVD. See, his girlfriend's dad works for BMW Canada and was able to secure a copy of the DVD that contains the 5 shorts by big shot directors. Needless to say, I'm extremely jealous. Does anyone know where I can get a copy (other than eBay, cause $$$!)? Or do I need to buy a BMW (in which case eBay isn't so expensive)?
Thanks.

Bean,
A while back (November) I had the 800 number for BMW and I called and they said they would send you the DVD for free. We own a BMW, but they didn't ask us if we owned one or not, so I don't think at that point it really mattered. So I think you could get the disk even if you weren't a BMW dealer. Now here's the deal... They said we'd get our DVD in 1-2 weeks, we never got anything. So either they forgot about us, it got lost int he mail, or they ran out and never sent anything. A buddy of mine did get one of the disks. But he works for a BMW service dealer, plus he is an instructor for a BMW racing school. He showed me one video off of it and that one we seen was pretty good. It was by Guy Ritchie and starred Madonna as a star trying to get from one place to another and she has a lead footed BMW driving chauffeur (sp?) behind the wheel. My friend that particular one was the best of the 5. So overall I'd probably say the disk is OK, but not worth paying the high eBay prices for. -Flash |

i got mine by emailing BMW Films. but, they've also been saying that they wont ship to Canada (i'm in Toronto, so that doesn't explain much) because they'll be made available from dealers some time next year. since her dad works for BMW Canada then, i'm assuming they'll be made available shortly? (and maybe i can snag a spare copy then!) (: well worth the hassle for the guy ritchie short. if any other Canadians are successful in getting the disc from local dealers, please say something! bye. |

I tried my BMW dealer (who I hate, for other reasons BTW) and they didn't know what I was talking about. Oh well.
My wife is a beemer enthusiast and I wanted to give this disc to her. She is going to try to get it from the BMW club she belongs to, so I'll let you all know how that turns out.

See, even if I went into a dealership, I don't look like the type who could even pretend to afford a BMW so they would probably kick me out of the place before giving me anything. And my buddy is a dead end because knowing him he wouldn't want me to have a copy even if he could get me one, just so he could brag about it forever. Bastard.
BTW, I've been noticing more of my fellow Torontonians logging onto the board. Cool. ![]()

Well, If you are trying to score a free DVD I would at least try to seem interested in the car. I mean BMWs are the ultimate driving machine.
![]() I have been treated like shit from our big BMW dealer in town so I know what you mean, they didn't seem to think I would actually buy one. suprise, suprise. I bought one from someone else. And now i'm looking at getting a 7 series later this coming year and I will not be getting it from them either. I will see if I can get more than one copy, if I can I will send you one Bean.

I know a salesman for BMW who had no idea what I was talking about when I asked him for a disc. Sure enough he ended up getting one (which he promised to me) but, ended up keeping it for himself and told me that he had wanted it for a long time. I hope that they will eventually be made available in Canada so I can show him my copy and he can stop gloating. By the way I also e-mailed BMWfilms and BMW Canada and called them via there 1-800 numbers. BMW films gave me the standard "We can't ship to Canada", routine and told me the the number to BMW Canada. When I called them they told me that I have to be a customer of BMW. THey also told me that the only people who will recieve the dvd will be individuals who recieve invitations (from BMW CANADA) to test drive the M5. When I asked if I could recieve one, they told me that I was not in there data base and they could not help me. With this type of customer service (in Canada anyway) I am beginning to hate BMW and probably will never buy one of their vehicles.

I was always under the impression that BMW was going to release a DVD to the public (for purchase)!
I downloaded all 5 movies & trailers on my PC along with the BMW player & U know what? That's all I need! They look & sound fantastic! I have my PC hooked to a 27" TV via an S-video cable & it rivals DVD quality...no lie! My fav is also Star directed by Guy Ritchie!

Invitations to test drive an M5? something is a bit fishy with this story. Are they even making more of those? I think they only made around 1500 to begin with.
Keep in mind the M5 is an over $100k car and even if you wanted one they are very rare and pretty much impossible to get.

I live in the distant Spain no less, but I tried e-mailing the BMW representative through their bmw films site, and he replied to me offering to send me the DVD as soon as I let him know my address.
So now I'm waiting for it, though my hopes for its arrival are not very high. Anyway, it will be a nice surprise if it reaches to my front door sometime. ![]() |
