Yea I have the special edition and I like it pretty well. I always liked the movie and similarly themed ones where a man is fighting for his identity or his humanity, and seems to be tortured psychologically and going insane. It will either make you think or piss you off, as the ending is pretty open and ambiguous. A few nice little features are the Adrian "Fatal Attraction" Lynne commentary and the deleted scenes I saw on cable. Unfortuantely I think the sound mix is Dolby Surround only. One of Tim Robbins' best performances, next to Shawshank.

I have the Jacob's Ladder disc and it's pretty sweet. I picked it up for $10 or so a couple of years back. It was worth it to me just to see it in the correct aspect ratio, since as I recall even the laserdisc was pan-and-scanned.
There is a nice selection of extras. The deleted scenes are very interesting, much more so than your everyday, garden-variety cut scenes. Artisan does a nice job. Don't hesitate to pick this one up. |

Fantastic movie, phenomenal disc. It had everything a Jacob's Ladder fan could want:
Commentary Deleted scenes (and good one for once) Making of documentary and more... Definitely a must have!

I got the Jacob's Ladder DVD S.E. as well.
Mine is in 1.85:1 anamorphic with 5.1 DD. Can't beat that for a disk that came out in 1998. Good movie. It has a decent cast too, Tim Robbins, Elizabeth Pena (she shows some skin too ) Danny Aiello, plus a few other big names that weren't household names at the time like, Jason Alexander, Eriq La Salle and Ving Rhames and little Macaulay Culkin. Deleted scenes (three, I think) and commentary. I think I got mine for $14.99. Good flick, not one of the best, but very watchable. Decent horror, my GF won't even watch it. The ending really makes you think. -Flash |

I have this DVD as well and seem to recall the sound transfer is pretty good (5.1 DD). The video transfer is not as good but not at all bad. The deleted scenes were a nice surprise and the commentary was enlightening ... especially, given the film. I would certainly recommend purchasing it if you value the film.

Thanks for the input everyone, I went ahead and ordered it (for less than $10 shipped). Since the disc has been out so long I wanted to make sure it wasn't a crap release with an SE due out next week.
