Universal Advertising Full Frame American Pie 2

I saw the Universal commerical for American Pie 2 a few times, and noticed they had the Full Frame versions of it up when they showed the boxes. They didn't even mention the WS editions.

Looks like more money for Cockbuster.

What is unusual though is that all the ads this week picture the WS copy and say "also available in P&S" when it's usually vice versa.

I get the impression studios are trying to make the P&S more accessable, available, etc, so if P&S soes end up outselling W?S that way, then they can say, "See, the public wants P&S."

Luckily, I was at Amazon, and their top selling DVD was AP2 Widescreen-Unrated. I was sure glad to see that.

Best Buy better have out all the versions tomorrow. So far they have been pretty good, except a view select titles, Willy Wonka, Dogs and Cats and one recent other selection.

GO OAR !!!

Not just that but imagine how many people that don't know like us about the different versions out there that end up with the theatrical cut of the film. Places like Wal Mart will only have the R rated cut.

I'm happy to note that every copy of American Pie 2 I saw today (including the one I bought) in the 2 stores I visited (HMV, Musicworld) were all WIDESCREEN - UNRATED!!! I'm positive it's not because the full-frame got sold-out, but rather, when the option is made here, I've almost always ONLY seen the widescreen version for sale. The only exception I can think of is The Grinch. I'd say it was about 50-50 on that one.

Well, I went to Blockbuster today (they put out new used DVDs), and noticed for the 100000th time the abundance of widescreen titles, so I asked one of the clerks:

Me: Hey, whats with the fullscreen?
Him: I work for a company run by morons.

That got a good laugh.

I was at Best Buy today.

All I could find was the Widescreen-Unrated. Good! And this was at about 11:00 a.m., so I know they didn't run out of the other titles.

I could not find any of the following:

Rated-Widescreen
Rated-P&S
Unrated-P&S

On the big cardboard display as well as on the regular shelves, all I seen were the Widescreen Unrated.

Also they had out a 2 DVD boxed set of both AP movies. That was WS-UR as well.

Yipee hooray!

Hopefully best Buy is learnign the OAR lesson. Hopefully Blockbuster learns it soon as well.
