POLL : vote for these titles to be released or remastered:

Ok, due to the limits of options, all movies we would like to see released or remastered can't be listed here

but let's try a few and see the results

note the details

some comments:

FINAL FANTASY and THE 6TH DAY already exist in DTS in Japan

INDY trilogy and STAR WARS in DTS is definitely NOT a done deal :violin:

I want Indie! Just because the others are available(except for Star Wars) and the resolution are very good.

I voted for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Starship Troopers.

Of course, we won't be happy w/ the Star Wars or Indiana Jones releases since they won't have dts audio and will be plagued w/ edge enhancement so I have to wonder if we REALLY want these titles on DVD or do we want to live in a state of constant anticipation of these DVDs and fantasize about how great the transfers will be?

Peace.....

Want it!

Well................I would like to have it on hand, with edge enhancements and sans DTS, if they must.

Then I could still fantasize about how great it would be without the edge enhancements and with DTS sound

hi guys

the percentages should be read like this: out of 11 person who voted, 100% or the 11 voted for STAR WARS in dts

but all want STAR WARS on dvd anyway

There are two people so far that have NOT voted for starwars, but did vote for Indy. Interesting.

Lawrence would be much improved by Superbit. It won't completely eradicate the halos, but it would surely be improved. Plus, it just seems like a prime canidate for superbitting. It blows my mind to think that Johnny Mneumatic was considered ahead of one CTS greatests properties.

Heat with DTS would be many audiophiles' dream. It might even possible do this on a single disc. I was quite surprised finding out that The Thin Red, which is also in the three hour range, has a full rate DTS track. Just get rid of the dolby 5.1(I guess the 2.0 would have to stay for the disc to satisfy spec) and we're ready to go. Of course, if 2 discs means higher video quality I won't have a problem.

I can't vote for any of the titles that refer to "Superbit" since they are sans extras, and Filmmaker don't play dat, but I happily voted for HEAT, BATMAN, and TITANIC (and the fact that STARSHIP TROOPERS is currently ranked higher than TITANIC may have just completely eradicated any hope for humanity that we have left)!

some comments:

1. I limited myselft to "superbit" instead of "superbit with extra" as this the actual trend. I would not mind to see Columbia do superbit with extra on disc 2, don't misunderstand me but, I prefer to have superbit than overloaded single discs or wrongly done collectors (ie, disc 1 still overloaded)

2. HEAT: this movie is a chef d'oeuvre. Warner has done some dts and even recently with AMERICAN OUTLAWS or MADONNA latest dvd. But they are mostly pro Dolby.

3. ideally, we should all work togeter, dvdfile, dvdtalk, AVS, HTF and build a large online POLL, divided in different sections (maybe by major or film genre or by "not yet releasedé" or "needs a remastering" ). Such poll, advertised on various dvd sites, could surely interest the majors. It could embarass them also

Aren’t Starship Troopers scheduled for some kind of re-releasing (SE, UE or something) sometimes this year? I would surely like it to be SuperBit.

Yeah, it's supposed to be getting the superbit treatment.

I'd like to see every Scorsese DVD, except Last Temptation and Taxi Driver (which should have had a commentary; well I could get the LD), because they are pretty bad. I'd have to rebuy GoodFellas and Casion, but that wouldn't be so bad.

Also I'd like to see a new Amadeus (sic) DVD. The current one is ok, but I would prefer a DTS track and not to have to flip the disc.

And all of the John Hughes films need SEs.

SeanL are you just wishing for it as I am (Starship Troopers SuperBit), or you have some solid information on that? Maybe a date as well?

ok...how's this for a compromise...
Superbit treatment on Disc one, and Extras galore on disc two. that should appease all the Extras mongers out there, and the Videophiles as well...

my .02

I prefer the Superbit on ALL releases.

superbit and dts from Columbia worldwide:

GODZILLA in France
6TH DAY in DTS in Japan
FINAL FANTASY in DTS in Japan

HEAT: in DTS in Hong-Kong or South Corea ( crappy transfer however I read)

it's time we create a giant POLL online to cover tens or hundreds or dvds and movies not yet on dvd.

I read somewhere that Starship Troopers would be getting the Superbit treatment, sometime in 2002.

It won't let me vote for 'none'. While I'd be up for just about any of those in a carefully encoded RSDL transfer with DTS, I'd prefer them in a format which didn't eschew commentary tracks and extra features.

A DTS INdy Jones would be nice...but I'll just leav it at, "I'd take it on DVD!"....PERIOD!!!

I wouldn't mind the Indy Trilogy in DTS or a Superbit Of Starship Troopers.

I would also like a re-issue of Vertigo with an anamorphic transfer and DTS soundtrack.
