I'm a little worried about that Holiday in the Sun, though

Film Comment's DVD pick 3 of the month is Holiday in the Sun. Here's a quote from the review "...the girls sunbathe in bikinis that cup their not-quite-ready-yet breasts and scour the beach for just-pubescent boys. The twin's acting ability is less talent than learned behavior, but there's something undeniably appealing about them--a paradoxical naturalness and normality despite there entirely commodified identities."

Hey, if Clint Eastwood can admit to liking the Olsen Twins, why can't I come out of the closet with it. Hey, it's only a DVD...not like there's anything wrong with me...right?

Though I don't get how Indy became PD Jennings. Is there a new European medical procedure I'm not aware of?

Aaron Carter is slightly more tolerable than Hanson......ech, Hanson. :barf:Mmmmm Bop

UserName, I still don't understand why you would link to another person's DVD collection in your sig. Were you hoping that you would become cool by association?

I am so upset.

No Doubt

pd jennings,

you were on your way to being my hero, but now you have no doubt secure your position as THE HERO!

Someday, my raise will come, I am wishing, I am wishing........

Then I could try to be pdjennings but I doubt I will be able to catch up. We all should have some type of a goal to strive for.

pdjennings, please tell me that you bought the aaron carter videos for someone else, like your daughter or something. It's just wrong for a 27 year old man to buy them for himself no matter how big a collector is. yuck. i'd rather watch the nsync version of AOTC

He's the little brother of one of the BackStreet Men. If Will Smith & Britney Spears had a baby... he'd sound like Aaron.

& Yes... I bought them for me. I happen to think he's pretty fuckin' talented. I've even seen him in concert when he was part of a summer festival thing last year.

What does age have to do with the kind of music someone likes? Unless we're talking about Sing-Along with Barney or something....

I like Aaron. I like A*Teens. I like Marilyn Manson. I like Madonna. I like Dave Matthews. I like Bjork. I live Tori. I like Hanson. I like NIN. I like Britney. I like Mozart. I like Nirvana. I like Linkin Park. I like Garth Brooks. I'm going to see Elton John & Billy Joel tomorrow night. I like a lot. *shrug*

Is that "just wrong" too?

I loved that one song aaron did. something like "i dont need a girlfriend". It was looped on a tape we had to play at the video store. Everytime it would come on a smile would strecth across my face.

PDJ,

Congrats for coming out and admitting this startling fact! Unfortunately I think the masses will say your either gay or just really odd. I personally dont care about a man's preference in music, although I must admit that reading your posts regarding boybands, britney, etc was a little scary.

Its a good thing this forum is home to a lot of respectful people, I can think of some other places I've been to where this would cause a flame war.

Anyway, enough of my random thoughts, gotta get back to my Britney in Hawaii DVD

This topic seems to have gotten off track...

The real concern here is that I have become PD Jennings.

But I've never heard of Aaron Carter. Although I do have all of Britney's DVD's, I think I can justify that even if I am a 29 year-old male. In fact, I think I'm in her core audience.

So!

So Indyphantom,

Tell us all, how does it feel to be able to purchase all those DVDs and be pdjennings? Is it all that you thought it would be?

I can't wait to do that. Maybe before the end of this month I will. How many do I have to buy in order to be qualified? Is it Ten DVDs purchase at one time? I need to know so I can save the money that I normally use for going out, on food or laundry and put it towards the "Becoming Pdjennings" Fund.

I
I'm in good spirits. I found room on the shelves for all the new DVD's. I will probably go back to being just plain 'ol Indiephantom this week...there really are only enough DVD's on this planet for one PDJennings, but hey, now I been there--done that. I feel like I'm coming around...

Holy Coconuts!! Did I really buy "Holiday in the Sun"!

There was a time......

In the months between July and August of last year, I kept going to BestBuy and getting DVDs. I didn't have time to watch them so I would just put one on each shelf. The shelf tower, I think, has 6 levels. When placed faced up, the shelf can hold one disc, unless I stack them. So on each level, I would put one DISC, then I can see what I can look forward to watching when I have time.

By mid August, I had about 7 disc, so one weekend I just kept picking the ones I wanted to see and watch them.

That is not the pdjennings way but it was pretty close. I will definitely buy 10 discs before the end of this month so I too can say 'I have become PD Jennings' for a week.

Enjoy your DVDs, even "Holiday in the Sun". Its not so bad is it?

Funny I thought about this when I was reading that big box post, which I believe was created by PD. I've sort of done this unconsciously for a couple of years. I'm on the road quite a bit with my work, and when I'm away I'll often pick up some DVD's, and because it is my one and only hobby, usually when I get back home there is a package or two waiting for me with DVD's I've ordered online, or gotten through auctions.

I have a habit of alphabetically storing all my DVD's according to studio, and as soon as I get them I place them in the correct spot. Sometimes I forget about certain titles until I get a free day or weekend to savor all the goodies.

So I don't have a big box, but I've got a huge closet.

As for "Holiday in the Sun", I really can't say anymore without fear of flaming. You understand.
