Pac Man in Tron?

A few minutes into chapter 9 when he is looking at the radar you can see PAC MAN chomping away. Was this in the original or did someone put it in.

I always notice it too, it sticks out to me. I remember it when I saw this picture with my brother.

I think it's always been there, but just to make sure I'll check my VHS copy.

Also while we're on the subject of adding things, I noticed a few scenes had some added elements. For instance when Alan sits down in his terminal, there are more cubicles (sp?) off in the distance. If I can recall, there was just a wall.

And when Flynn crashes the Recognizer, he walks past TWO woman staring at him instead of one.

Anyone?

Ok. I went and checked my VHS copy and figured out the problem. As you know, the VHS version is full screen. You could never see the Pac-Man unless you watched the widescreen version. The same applies to the cubicles and the woman.

I'm pretty stoked about this. I just picked Tron up today. I can't wait to watch it. I remember seeing it in the theater, but I have only wathed it on VHS since then. OAR makes such a huge difference!

Seeing it in it's OAR is definitely the only way to go. What I'm happy about is the remastering effort. The comparison is unreal. The scenes that take place in the laser bay show just how much of an improvment there is when the picture is 16x9. Also the colors are so much more vibrant than before. This blows the LD and the previous DVD away.

I've always liked Tron, but I gotta say, after watching some of the documentaries on the new disc, my respect for the film has multiplied by a factor of ten. Seeing some of the concept art and the the laborious effort that went into making the movie really makes you understand how visionary and experimental it was.

Always been there.

As I read the thread topic, I suddenly remembered going to see the movie with my friend Mike and laughing at that moment.

Watched the first disc last night and hoped to start running through the supplements tonight.

Marvel you're observation is quite correct. Though I did not see the SE laser, IMO it blows away all the other incartnations that I have seen. The only thing that holds it back really is problems with the actual film elements, but that can't be helped. Some shots come in soft, but there also a lot a detailed shots.

The only thing that frustrates me is THX. This proves they need to change their policies. Work like Tron shows why they were respected. At the same time, Tombstone shows how they have become a joke. The ironic thing is that both sets are from Disney. I hope they're realizing that their reputation is seriously in trouble.

Not only do you see the pac-man, you hear the pac-man, too. Wakka-wakka-wakka

I noticed for the first time the big mickey mouse head they fly over. I'd read about it being there, but it was very clear this time around.
