Me neither. R2 gets it, but we don't? Somebody had better explain this.

This is a huge dissapointment. I'll still be buying it of course, but I am not nearly as excited about it.

Man... the second disc is going to be pretty bare without that feature.

I want to know more about the supposed "rights issues" they are struggling with, so that I know who it is exactly, that is holding back on letting them show the short film.

You people with multi-region players are so damned lucky.

Sucks :violin:, I guess I'll have to buy the Region II DVD Set and play it on my Apex Machine (which plays all Regions)..

This must be the decade of "LET'S FUCK THE USA!"

The LEAST Anchor Bay could do is lower the price a little.

DAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!

My most anticipated DVD of 2002, along with the eventual Mulholland Dr.!

no more I suppose....

This will be a serious debate to buy it or not when it comes out in March. It's a lot of of money, but I would get some good stuff (new master/ framing of film, Bruce Campbell documentary on fans, new featurette, kick-arse box art).
Time shall tell I guess.

But hopefully they will eventually release Within the Woods as a seperate disc, instead of including it in a possible 3rd Anchor Bay release of The Evil Dead.

Well, I was originally thinking about getting the one disc 19.99 Evil Dead (the first disc of the BotD set IIRC...unless they pulled that too, i just skimmed the article) but I thought, nahh, I'll just dish out the 50 for the pimped out version. But shit! I'm definately going for the $20 one now.

(now with fox now reissuing 2's to 1-discs I think i may make my life easier and adopt a "movie not extras" philosophy. the only extras that I really enjoy are commentaries and GOOD filmographies for those "didn't i see her in another movie" quick fixes.)

Oh no!!!!

I already preordered it.
I'll just have to put my Elite version of Evil Dead in the Book of the Dead cover instead.

That is too stupid.Normally we get stiffed on extras and prices.
Now we can almost pick up 2 book of the dead for the price of one of yours,in turn we get more extras.
If you havent got a multi region player ,get one,its about CHOICE!!

Interesting that the "rights" issue is for music . . . because that is the easiest thing to fix. You just dub in different music a la "Almost Famous." Unless the music is not on a separate track because it is so low budget. That could be the case, but if not then there really is no excuse for this to happen.

Well, considering WITHIN THE WOODS is only 20 minutes, I doubt they'd release it on a seperate disc. We can probably expect yet ANOTHER EVIL DEAD in the future.

Bruce mentioned on his book signing tour about how difficult it would be to release this short, along with all those Super-8 home movies he did with Raimi.

I'm not sure why Anchor Bay would let word out the short was to be part of the Book of the Dead version, prior to securing the rights to the movie.

My vote is for Anchor Bay to delay this set a month or two, just long enough to secure the rights to all the music. I'd be willing to wait that long, just to know I'd have the definitive disc of the month of Evil Dead.

The final cover looks uglier than the earli prototype. The wood face looks stupider than before.

You've GOT to be kidding!? He's not REALLY doing a Sept. 11th movie, is he???
If he is, then he's the most predictable, money-hungry exploiting bastard I've ever heard of. Just after the 9/11 tragedy, I made a joke about him purchasing the rights to it. Guess it wasn't so much a joke as it was an unfortunate inevitable fact. That prick bastard. I can't believe he wants to make money off of the death and suffering of others. He'd better be giving EVERY cent to Sept. 11 foundations. If not...well let's just say that I wish he was on one of those flights.

i can see it now:

"From The Producer of Coyote Ugly and Armaggedon comes the biggest war movie of them all. this five hour saga follows the story of a gay love triangle between three of the hi-jackers from Sept. 11. It also follows the americans stuggle to triumph over terrorism. in real life it may have been a tragedy, but in hollywood, we kicked those hi-jacked planes asses"

About the Jerry Bruckheimer thing, I seriously doubt that is true.
No way in hell that could be happening 4 months after those events.

Back on topic: I'm not nearly as excited about this set now. I agree that they should either hold it off a few months to work out any rights issues, or at least lower the price a little bit.

Or...better yet, later on after they release this set, after any legal issues are worked out, they could have people send in their proofs of purchases, or included certificates, or what have you, for a free copy of the short feature.

Wishful thinking, I know. Never gonna happen... I'm certain of that.
You would think there'd somehow be copies of this short film floating around the internet somehow.

They better lower the price as well! I'm not paying the cash for a set that could be rereleased when the rights clear, no matter what Anchor Bay claims!

It's only ED1.
And as I've said before I'll buy the movie only $19.99 version instead.
I would have nowhere to put the special case anyway.

Well, if you MUST buy the "movie-only" Evil Dead, I hope to God you don't mean the piece of shit see-through jewel case Anchor Bay release, but meant the fantastic release by Elite that includes two hilarious commentaries (especially Bruce Campbell's... best commentary EVER) and other goodies!!!!

Could someone please enlighten me as to why the 'Within The Woods' piece is the deal breaker for so many? What exactly is it? (I haven't seen Evil Dead as yet, but I did catch Army Of Darkness by accident one evening - pretty funny)
