Buffy Question
I don't know if I want the first season of Buffy or not. I don't think I ever wathed the first season. Is it pretty good? I think I started watching the show a little before Spike came on the show as the bad vamp. What season is that? Cause Spike is a cool badguy and I would pick that season up easily.

It is good, and because it was a mid-season replacement for another show there are only 12 episodes, which means the boxset should be cheap...
Spike and Drusilla turned up as the big bads in the 3rd episode of season 2... Not that I'm a big fan or anything... ![]()

The first season is pretty good IMO. The villian was "the Master" a vampire trying to open the hell mouth. It had some pretty orginal stories along the way too. It was all new at the time and there weren't any other shows on TV like it. Now there are a bunch of buffy clones with kick ass women leads and shows about witchcraft... SMG was really cute during the first few seasons...Now she's too boney looking, and too muscular...Xander was also really funny the first few seasons and was my favorite character.
The best season ever was when Angel turns evil. He was the best villian the show ever had...It's great when he takes over and puts Spike in his place...Plus you had Ms. Calender as a regular co-star....She was really hot...(she was one of the Diamond and Pearl dancers for Prince in the "Cream" video) The principal of the highschool was cool too...(Quark) Drucilla was creepy as hell and had some great moments... When this season becomes available on DVD I'm getting it. Once the show left the highschool scene I feel that it wasn't the same...

I cant believe you Americans are complaining over whether to buy season 1 of Buffy or not, when it was released here in the UK the RRP was 49.99 pounds which is 70 of your American bucks. How much of a rip off is that. I got it for half that but still we pay for this stuff and it hurts.
I am just grouchy cause we pay so much, I love you Americans really. |

I picked it up at Costco for $24.99.
I have never seen the show, but I'm interested in checking it out.

Seriously though, I bought it and feel it was worth the $29 I paid for it (sorry, sedgehog - had to throw that in there). If it had cost $50 I would have purchased it just because I love the show. The DVDs do show their age though because the pictures is grainy at times, but not to the point that it's unwatchable. The same group that did the compression for Buffy also did the Xfiles (also grainy). I watched the first 4 episodes the night I bought it and it was kinda cool to remember how it all started. If you like the series, it's worth getting. It's scary to see just how damn young they were when the series started. G |
