aww, how sweeet...

ok, i'm just going to say up front that i'm not one of those "bring me roses and chocolates or you get no sex" kind of valentine's day addict girls. in fact, i hate valentine's day.

but i though it might be interesting to talk about what we think are the sexiest, most erotic films. you know "gonna get me laid tonite" movies.

my all time #1 sexiest movie is An Affair of Love, which is a 1999 french film. no, it isn't one of those overly serious and romantic chick flick bodice rippers.

It's about this woman (nathalie baye) who has a certain sexual fetish. she puts out an ad, and she meets a man (Sergi Lopez) who'll help her fulfill this fantasy of hers.

They meet in an anonymous cafe once a week for sex. they refuse to share any information about themselves, including their names, what they do for a living, their family life, etc. it's strictly all about the sex.

but then it becomes something more. and you'll have to see it to find out the rest, though this isn't really a plot movie.

this film has, in my opinion, the best sex scenes ever. honest, but beautiful. erotic, but not exploitative. this is a movie that, just thinking about it, makes me want to strip down in the middle of this college library computer lab and do things the middle aged RPG-er sitting next to me could only have wet dreams about.

You know, I can't think of any movies that I've seen that were more erotic, yet tasteful, than romantic. I really enjoy watching Love Jones as I find it a cool, well done love story. I've seen other movies with sexual content or themes, but that wasn't significant part of the movie.

So, I guess I'll have to stick with giving flowers and candy then....

Will baked goods work as well?

Peace.....

I always thought that the scenes with Clooney and Lopez in "Out of sight" had a great "tension".

Oh, and "Betty Blue" of course.....

Never been much of a fan of obvious sexuality in movies (I consider it a crutch the way others think of guns in films)--my tastes in romantic films run to the ones where sexuality isn't a factor so much as deep emotion, like TITANIC and THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY...

Not to sound prudish, but I agree. I think many (not all) films that contain graphic sexualtiy don't really need it, and it's used to get people to watch it.

I do like how it is used in Eyes Wide Shut, however. A lot of people complained that it wasn't hot enough, but to me, that wasn't the point. The Cruise/Kidman scene was exactly as long as it needed to be, and the point was made. Later, during the masked ball sequence (altered or unaltered), the sex is purposely very un-erotic and more than a little mechanic. I believe Kubrick shot it that way to enforce the coldness and rigidity of meanlingless sex. Just my thoughts.

As I said, though, normally I don't go for overdone sexuality in movies. Two of my favorite love stories are Casablanca and Starman. The former, of course, couldn't really show anything as it was made in the forties, which is actually a good thing, as it is better to let the tension between Rick & Ilsa speak for itself. The latter has one sex scene, but it is short and to the point, and the movie relies on the dialogue and emotion of the characters to convey its themes.

At any rate, just my opinions.

Romantic Movies? See if you can guess how my love life goes based on these movies....

the Crow
Dracula (Coppola)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Chasing Amy

Nobody's actually died on me, it's just that my love life never goes the way I want it.

Yeah, Bridges jerked a tear or two out of my eye..... as well as the ever popular "Love Story".... I was crying hard at the end of that...... "How long does it last, can love be measured by the hours of a day, I have no answers now but this much I can say, I'll always need him 'til the stars all burn away... and [he|she]'ll be there......."

I'm looking through what me and my roommate have, and it looks like Return to Me is about as romantic as our DVDs get! And I think Lady and the Tramp is a very nice animated romance. Thats all from me.

Well I own it, so Sara can watch it whenever she feels like it (while we're together anyway). I got it off eBay for $13. I had just missed an auction on it which nobody had bid on for $6. This is the best movie about sex I have seen as well. See my post in my own topic about movies you've never heard of.

If you want to see what it looks like, take a look at my DVD profiler list in my sig.

It is similar, but it is a far more intimate film than Tango, for the precise reason that it is less graphic. The dialogue is also better in Affair.

Neither my girlfriend or I like all-out romantic films, but we enjoy genre films that have romantic elements to them. We're both big fans of Cronenberg's The Fly, Carlito's Way (which has one of my favorite "romatic" scenes).

And True Romance, of course!

Based on Sara's and Stu's reccomendations,I will have to check out An Affair of Love, if I can find it in any viedo stores around here.

My favorite romantic movie (if you can call it that) is probably Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It's got the sentitive stuff for the chick, and the kung fu for me. Of course that film is horribly scarred with the memory of my ex...

The only other "romantic" movie I really own is Bill Plympton's I Married a Strange Person. Again, I have a pretty weird idea of what's considered romantic.

I found Bound to be quite erotic. I don't know if I would call it romantic though.

If I want romance I go for Casablanca. I still love this movie.

Last tango is erotic.

10 works for me.

Emmanuel is a good one.

Both The Unbearable Lightness of Being (my favorite movie) and Henry & June are good erotic films.

The Cook the Theif, His Wife and Her Lover is good, but not for everyone.

Crash is a lessor effort but mixes the same elements of disgust and erotisism as Cook etc. -- worth watching but I wouldn't try it on a first date or anything (note: yes I would. First date with my wife we watched Clockwork Orange, and that ... tmi)
