Blockbuster Video hiring teenagers

I hope this is the correct forum for this thread, if it is not, I apologize in advance to the mod's.

I am 16 and am looking for a summer job. It didnt take me long to figure out that Blockbuster would be the IDEAL job. 5 free rentals a week, plus working with movies all day.

Here is my problem, of course, I am 16, does Blockbuster hire 16 year-olds in their local stores?

Has anyone worked for them, or Hollywood Video, how was your experience.

You could try going there and applying. Seems like the best way to find out

I don't think you'll have a problem being only 16. When I was in high school I know quite a few of my classmates had jobs at local Blockbusters.

Looking to work for the Evil Empire, eh?
First of all, I don't think they'd have a problem hiring a 16 year old. Hell, with the morons they hire nowadays, their standards can't be too high (one guy at the BB downstairs didn't know what WS was!!!).
And just a warning...I worked for them several years ago and it's not fun. They pay you minimum wage and they slavedrive you all day long (make sure not to look like you're NOT doing anything).
Good luck in any case.

PS- is it only 5 rentals a week now? Cheap bastards. I had 10 when I worked there.

BB only hires kids over 18, I know, I've applied twice. And what's this five free rentals a week shit? The video store I work for allows us to rent whatever, whenever. The only restrictions being the item has to be 30 days old or before it's street date, and we are limited to three things at once. (Meaning I can rent three videos/games/pornos return them and rent three more if i feel so inclined.)

And I get minimum wage (not anymore actually... now i'm making a whopping 5.25) and we "technically" get breaks but in practice that doesn't happen. But IMHO the rentals are worth it. I've worked there (keep in mind it's NOT BB) a grand total of about 4.5 months and have racked up close to 500 rentals. No calculations here but I'd say I rent about 20-30 things/week. I quit a while ago b/c of a manager (who was fired, hence the reason i'm back again) and couldn't find a job anywhere, granted it was right before x-mas but that was my own stupidity.
