Suh-WEET! THE OTHERS is a 2-disc set!

I was just over at the FANGORIA website, and in their calendar of releases, they've listed THE OTHERS as a 2-disc set which will be available May 14, 2002!

Man, am I looking forward to this!
See for yourself...

I was really fumed that I kept missing out on chances to see this in the theater, but I can't wait for the DVD (hopefully I will not be disappointed by a blind release like I somewhat was with The Sixth Sense).

DVDFile covered this news a week ago or so, stating the same release date and that it was 2 discs (plug, plug)

I would strongly advise you give this one a rent before you spend $20+ on it.

I saw it in the theaters, and although a very surprising ending, I don't think it meritted a purchase.

To me, only the last 30 minutes were interesting.

However, this is just one man's opinion.

I'll buy it for Nicole Kidman alone.

I found this to be only marginally better than THE 6TH SENSE. I would strongly advise against a blind purchase if you didn't like that film....

I don't think it is better than The Sixth Sense at all! It is a good film, but if you didn't like 6th Sense, I am not sure you will care for this either. They are similar in ways, just with the pacing and atmosphere.

THE OTHERS, while it's a slower film than most movie-goers would want, is a phenomenal piece of work. Amenabar's got a wonderful eye. It's just a hauntingly beautiful film. Very hammer.
If you like ghost movies, go for a blind purchase. If you don't like, I'LL give you your money back!

I'll probably end up blind purchasing it, because I adored Amenabar's "Open Your Eyes", and love a good atmospheric ghost story. For some reason, The Sixth Sense just didn't blow me away, but I feel I'll like The Others a lot more.

Marq,
Be sure to check out his first film, TESIS (or THESIS). It's available on DVD.

Maybe I'm in the minority on this one, but I thought 6th sense was totally overrated. I was amazingly unimpressed with it after buying it blindly. One of the few blind purchases I would regret.

But, The Others was far superior in my eyes. It felt like an old classic ghost story. And I loved that feeling. It was filmed superbly and I found the entire movie enthralling.......not just the last 30 minutes.

I would definitely recommend buying this release Marq. If not....oh well, just cough it up to my Bad Taste. (hehe.....sorry for the bad pun lord-crumb):p

I never saw the movie but my friends thought it was good. Looks like another blind purchase for me!

Never got a chance to see it although I wanted to. Can it be compared to anything out already?

As I stated beforehand, it has a very gothic/hammer feel to it. It's just beautiful. It's hard to compare it to anything else, seeing as most haunted house films suck. Possibly GHOST STORY??? That one has a lot of good atmosphere in it, but it's not AS good as THE OTHERS.
