Short Films of David Lynch
I received my copy of this DVD via UPS today! Good stuff ! First of all, the packaging is AMAZING. I expected it to be cool. . . but nothing like this. . .
The films are good. I've watched them all besides The Grandmother (the longest.) The Alphabet is really something. And the Lumiere short is haunting. Cowboy and the Frenchman is amusing, The Amputee is. . . uhm. yeah. They all have introductions recorded by lynch, some which are 4-5 minutes long. And which have some really funny bits in them. Overall they were treated with a lot of care and as works of art! Very obvious the artist was in charge of this release! |

Hey... give us a little more about the packaging. It mentioned 8x8 cardboard.... does it have a keepcase inside? or just a plastic holder? etc etc
(photo?)

I hadn't even heard of this. This isn't one you have to order from him is it?

Okay, the Box itself is black , sturdy cardboard, which has two flaps, in sort of a circular pattern, and one of the flaps has a slot for the DVD. under the two flaps is where they placed the booklet which is around 8x8 too. There's also a card stock slipcase for the thing with the package art on it. It's very classy.... the closest thing I can think of is a fine art book that you'd buy at a museum gift shop. There's some pics of the packaging available at:
http://www.dugpa.com/shortfilmsdvd.html Right now I guess they're backordered, since they didn't anticipate demand. uhm, oops. More should be available towards the beginning of March (or so they say. . . ) |

I checked out those screenshots and ..........
.Sign me up! hamholio, As of right NOW, do we have to be a paying memeber of the website to order this DVD? If so, i'll wait until the store opens to everyone, and wait to buy Eraserhead at the same time. Also, should I buy directly from the website (the short films and eventually Eraserhead), or wait a few weeks for some quality copies to show up on E-Bay? What do you guys think would be the cheaper route for this cash-strapped fellow looking to spend his Canadian $'s in the most resourceful way?? |

The store, AFAIK, is open to everyone right now.
http://www.davidlynch.com/store/store.html is the address. The Short Films are backordered until March 4th , i think it says. I have no idea what those would be going for on ebay. i doubt they'd be going for cheaper than on lynch's site, since there's no retailer program set up or anything........... but it wouldn't hurt to look! |
