One particular scene in The Exorcist. When the priests have been knocked to the floor and through the gloom they look up to see Regan lifting herself to an apparition of the demon Pazuzu which is sitting on the bed. I've not seen this movie again and this was at it's theatrical release.

None of these other movies have bothered me.

Uhh, hello? Pitt went nowhere near the box and Paltrow wasn't supered into the box. B7W or in colour.

For Scanners, Del Grande's head was redone using Plaster of Paris and was filled with fake blood. A shotgun pointed up from the floor blew this head off. Cheap and effective. Since it was done "for real", having it in slomo wasn't a prob.

SPOILERS if you haven't seen Seven...

It's true that Pitt went nowhere near the box. But there IS a one-frame flash of Paltrow a few seconds before he shoots Spacey. I don't remember it being in black & white, but it's so quick, it very well might be.

I thought this was the "disturbing" thread - not the "I thought this movie was stupid" thread? I don't believe personal opinions of the greatness of the said movies is the issue at hand. No one asked opinions on whether the movie was "stupid" or not.

Back to the topic - I also have to throw in the scene from Hannibal where the guys was hung out to dry by his guts from the window. NASTY!

I think Blair Witch gave me too much of a headache from the camera shaking to care how it ended. I was frightened for a flash at the end, then thought, "That's it?" *I* wouldn't call it disturbing. Maybe "anti-climactic."

· Schindler’s List – The scene when the Jewess saves the construction project and the Commandant takes her advice, then casually orders her shot which occurs in the background without so much as his further attention
· Mountains Of The Moon – The beetle in the ear scene
· Marathon Man – “Are they safe” (I hate dentists)

In ‘Deliverance” the end of “the scene” had the bugger shot with an arrow by Burt Reynolds. In the screen version the bugger died a slow and blood drooling death, but later versions I saw had the gore cut out. Does the DVD have the drooling or not?

Hey, Just because you made this thread doesn't mean you own it! And people are entitled to their opinions about what they like and what they don't. Just because we mentioned the Hannibal scene, you just blurt out Hannibal is a stupid movie. Then go ahead a 2nd time about Hannibal. I mean 4 Real man, you're ruining the forums doing this. I really liked Hannibal, except for the whenever the dude with the fucked up face was on the screen.

You can't tell me anything about disturbing unless you've seen the full, uncut versions of I Spit on Your Grave or Last House on the Left.

They're the kind of films that makes you want to take several showers.

The rape scenes in both films made me feel like a bad person just for having watched them. And the castration scene in I Spit on Your Grave.......

Has anybody mentioned the David Cronenberg film Crash yet? I didn't see it on here. If memory serves, isn't there a scene where James Spader screws that chick's open wound? If not, I must have had a bad dream after a porno or something...

What "disturbed" me?

Sorry, but a scene that caught me surprise was the "make out" scene between the two stars in BASEketball (those of U have seen it know what I'm talking about).

I'm not homophobic, but man, I just wasn't ready to sit through that long, drawn out, french kiss!

the shining

Theyre both from The Shining: one is the bathtub scene (i had no idea what was in the tub the first time i saw the movie..right before the curtain opens you can see the silhouette of something and thats the scariest part). The other is near the end when Shelly Duvall is running down the stairs, then looks down the hall to see a door open, with the light on. A guy in a bear or dog suit or something with these huge disgusting teeth is "servicing" an old man, and they both look directly at her. That scene freaking scares me to death.

Though I ultimately didn't like the movie, I thought the "bite the pavement" scene in American History X was kind of creepy.
I did enjoy the movie, but agree that the scene mentioned here was extremely disturbing.

Hey Jr., the issue wasn't whether or not you're "allowed" to say whether or not you thought the movie was stupid. The issue is that it wasn't the right place to say it. Personally, I didn't care for the movie either, but that wasn't the topic of "YOUR" thread.

If you want to talk about the fact you thought Hannibal was a stupid movie, start a new thread.

Oh shit - no wait, I take it back. DO NOT TAKE LITERALLY.

Yeah, the first time I saw BASEketball, that kiss scene grssed me out, too.

In Goodfellas, when they beat the crap outta Joe Pesci's brother while they force him to watch, then beat the snot outta him and proceed to bury them alive. Joe gives a gasp while the dirt is covering his face and settles back into his mouth... this scene ALWAYS disturbs me. I musta been PMS'ing, 'cause I cried once. I love my little brother, and that scene rips me apart. God...

In Braveheart, the scene where the Lord claims Prima Nocte, and the bride slo-mo's around her husband - it USED to bother me alot. Now, I don't flinch. Funny, huh?

I think the most disturbing scenes I've ever seen in the movies have food in them... more specifically, eggs.

Tampopo's scene where the lovers pass a raw egg between their lips back and forth for a couple minutes and then the yolk breaks all over the woman's white dress and the guy licks it off her.

Also, In the Realm of the Senses: watching a woman insert a hard boiled egg up her vagina up close was extremely disturbing. And then she says, "Eat it."

Ew. Ew. Ew.

I can't believe it's only been mentioned twice...

...but that ASS TO ASS scene in REquiem will forever be a scar for me. THe old guy who says it might be the most disturbing screen presence since Mr. Horton's Bike Shop.

Porkchop Thanks for the rottentomatoes link. Hey I guess there are plenty of folks who found Blair Witch really scary/creepy. I know people who did, I guess I'll just never understand why. I've been looking over the thread, and I haven't found anything else I can totally agree with, the "Is it safe?" Marathon Man scene comes closest though. I still stand by Bloodsucking Freaks. It's certainly not the gore that bothers me, but the complete lack of reasoning for the gore, and the fact that it's just 90 minutes of torturing women. And yes I'm a guy, a guy who if he wants gore, will go for Dead Alive or Evil Dead depending on if I'm in a funny mood or not!

That bit where the old guy is trying to crack open the girl's head with the hammer. And leatherface is freaky too.

To me Last House On The Left was the original slasher flick. I saw it with Don't Look In The Basement on their release. Best of all slasher flicks was called Scum Of The Earth and starred most of the people from Basement. It had something most slasher flicks don't have: a plot.

Best 2 scenes from House were the BJ scene and the final chainsaw.

That sounds like Casino to me. The torture scene from the same movie when Joe Pesci has that guys head in a vise seemed a lot more painful to me.

Also, the executions in Bullet in the head, where one of our "heroes" is forced to execute POW's...

Hmmmm

For me, I'd have to say it's a tie between every scene starring Adam Sandler, and every scene starring Pauly Shore.

Night and Fog

Its a Documentary which might DQ it for the purposes of this discusion, but Night and Fog is a doc from '55 about the Nazi treatment of the Jews...

The whole thing is pretty disturbing, but there is one shot of a bulldozer pushing hundreds of bodys into a mass grave...

I was physically ill after seeing the film.

Goddamn! Paltrow's head IS in the box!

I can't believe that that makes a difference. Can anyone tell if they noticed Paltrow's head during the Pitt foofaraw while he was working himself up to shoot John Doe? I certainly didn't seem to notice something either in the theatre or on DVD. I had to scan frame by frame to find them.

BTW, it's at 2:00:04 for those who really care.
