How Many Of You...
Have watched all of the bonus features (including commentary) on your DVDs?
Have bought films from The Directors series? Bought movies that you hate? Bought special editions and kept the other versions of the same DVD? Hated a DVD so much you threw it away? The only movies I have ever watched all of the features on Brazil and Dead Ringers CCs. I never bought films from The Directors series, yet. Never bought movies I hate. Bought SEs and got rid of the old versions. Last question is yeah. |

I have watched all the features to several of my dvds.
I bought Hannibal, and I didn't like it too much. It was 5 bucks, so I was like.... oh well... And I am tempted to throw Gummo away...

Re: How Many Of You...
1. No I haven't watched all the bonus features on most of my discs. I am not a big fan of bonus features, except maybe deleted scenes and outtakes.
2. I don't know what the directors series is.... 3. I bought Book of the Dead because of the awesome cover but I don't like the Evil Dead. Also I buy many movies that I hate because I never have seen them and I hated them. I don't rent movies so I have a lot of stinkers in my collection. I think Evil Dead is the only one I have bought knowing that I hate the movie 4. No I don't keep the orginals of the movie, I sell them to family and friends to help keep the cost of double dipping down. 5. No I never have thrown away any movies, but I have a few that I would like to.

Re: How Many Of You...
Full of questions aren't we?
![]() Here's my short answers: Have watched all of the bonus features (including commentary) on your DVDs? - no, not all but most. I only buy movies that I truly appreciate and will therefore want to know every and anything anbout the movie, thus I will gladly watch all the features (except if it is obvious fluff). Have bought films from The Directors series? - no and don't plan to. Bought movies that you hate? - I really dislike Gladiator after buying it blind. That's as close as I've gotten. I'd never buy a film I hated on purpose. Bought special editions and kept the other versions of the same DVD? - so far I have 2 copies of Boogie Nights, Eyes Wide Shut, and soon Blue Velvet (I'll trade the old ones in soon though) Hated a DVD so much you threw it away? - no. |

I don't mind a bunch of questions actually. Sundays are quite boring
- I do believe I've watched every feature on all my discs, save for the most recent pile at the moment, and excluding text screens such as bios/production notes...I haven't begun to 'watch' all of those. Doubt I ever will. But yes, commentaries, trailers, featurettes, documentaries, deleted scenes..I get to them all within a reasonable amount of time for all discs. I'm simply unable to buy tons of discs I can't get full enjoyment from. Even if I had the money I wouldn't buy 'em faster than I can watch 'em, or everything on 'em ![]() - Directors series: No. - Movies I've ended up not liking (hate is such a strong term). Well, yeah...and no. I'd say I bought some I ended up wishing I had just rented. I end up selling those. - No, so far I haven't kept an old version of something when a new one comes out. There have only been a few I've replaced anyway. Sixth Sense (I can live without the missing stuff for sure), Almost Famous (same there, and I hated the menus on the original ) and The Shining, which didn't lose anything. - Hated a disc (distinction here between a movie and a disc) so much I threw it away: YES. Metropolis on Madacy. I kept the Amaray case and literally threw the disc away. It's that bad. I had only paid $4.99 for it. |

Hmmm, let's see....
1. I do ALL bonus features except the commentaries...sometimes I just don't have the time! I'll maybe skim through the chapters & see what they're talking about...but that's it! 2. No Director Series DVDs! 3. DVD I bought that I hated?....bought Tarzan and The Lost Empire blindly. It looked "OK" on the cover. Ended up giving it away to my dear old "muddah". 4. Bought SE's AND still have barebones of: Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Terminator 2, Silence Of The Lambs, Total Recall. Might be given these away in the future though. 5. See answer to #3. I don't think I could bring myself to "trash" a DVD no matter how bad it is!

1. I normally will go through the whole DVD when I first get it, although there are still some commentary tracks I have not listened to. I am not as excited about these as I used to be, since the last few I tried to sit through have been boring. Just try sitting through Brendan Frasier's (a fine enough actor I have no other complaints about otherwise) commentary on The Mummy.
2. I do not know what this is, so I guess not. 3. and 5. I usually know I will like a movie and will want the DVD before I buy. The only 2 I can think of I bought without having seen the movie are Cube and Caligula. I just saw Cube at Best Buy and the description intrigued me enough just to buy it right then and luckily I enjoyed the movie. I got Caligula after hearing all the talk on this forum about how bad it is. So, although, I didn't "hate" it, it WAS 3.5 hours of boredom just as it was descirbed, so I watched it once and then gave it away. For some reason the girl I gave this to liked it, so she's happy. 4. I know enough people that are getting into DVD that I can always find someone to give away an older version to help boost their collection. Miggy, the Thief

Re: How Many Of You...
Have watched all of the bonus features (including commentary) on your DVDs? ... Some features I really like such as deleted scenes, I always watch those. Commentaries I listen to if I like the participants, or if I've seen the movie a bunch of times. I've probably seen all the bonuses on 40% of my dvds.
Have bought films from The Directors series?... Nope Bought movies that you hate?... oh yeah Monkeybone shiver Bought special editions and kept the other versions of the same DVD? ... only once so far, but I gave away the disk Hated a DVD so much you threw it away?... Nope |

Have I watched all my bonus features? With the exception of commentaries, yes. It try to watch them, but some are plain boring. They are full of info like "Oh theres Jane, she was the key grip's wife. She was a lot of fun to work with" and crap like that. If I am really interested, I'll give it a shot, but not too often, any more.
What's a Director's Series? I've got a couple of Dreamworks "Signature Series" and they have a photocopy of the directors signature, but that means nothing. It's the only version of Gladiator & Prince of Egypt that I've seen. I have yet to buy a movie that I hate. I've been disappointed in a film if it wasn't as good as I remember (Tron, Black Stallion) but I didn't hate them. I have not bought an SE and then kept the earlier version. Heck if I have a previous version on DVD, I haven't replaced it at all. Bonus features are cool, but they're not worth paying again for, IMO. I have never thrown away a DVD. Ever. I might sell one, or give it to a good cause (yard sale for charity) but that's it.
