What Stephen King movie that is on dvd would be considered a cult classic?

My longest thread title ever. Anyway, I know there are a few Stephen King buffs here of dvdfile.com and I was wondering which SK movie that is on dvd currently, would be considered a cult classic?

It's hard for me to say because I have 2. Here they are:

Maximum Overdrive
The Dead Zone

I love both these movies to death, but I'm very perplexed as to which one I would pick to be the cult classic.

I find the Dead Zone to be an amazing exhibition, but I think Maximum Overdrive takes the cake. Stephen King's directing debut, an 'exclusive' AC/DC soundtrack, a kick ass Happy Toyz 18 wheeler, the whole concept of machines taking over the world and of course, the wonderful disc distributed by Anchor Bay. Oh, and that pristine transfer and that OAR, 2.35:1. Damn, I was amazed by MO's transfer on the dvd. Hell, blown away even. For a movie that was released in '86, on the dvd it looks as if it was released this year.

My pick for the Stephen King cult classic: Maximum Overdrive

The Shawshank Redemption? I loved it, but didn't consider it a cult classic. What about Storm Of The Century? Also, when will Rose Red come out?

Wait, wait, wait.

Shawshank was ignored? It was nominated for 8 Academy Awards.

Personally, I am anxiously awaiting the recently announced Silver Bullet based on the King short story "Cycle of the Werewolf". It is a great '80's cult classic with Cory Haim and Gary Busey that gets alot of play on the TBS and TNT networks usually late at night on the weekends every once in a while. I'm excited that it's going to be released in anamorphic widescreen on DVD.

Now, if there was just a better edition of Firestarter for my fiancee', we'd both have our favorite King films.

The Creeper

Trucks.

It's a Canandian produced version of the story of the same name that Maximum Overdrive was based on. I've only seen it available in a few places, but they did a better job sticking to the original story than King himself did, as I recall.

Actually don't own it myself, but I saw it a few years ago on cable.

I also liked The Langoliers and The Stand, although the latter looks a little better than the former now. Less cheesy.

I would LOVE a better treatment of Firestarter.... *drool*...

but for 'cult classic' status.... is all about Children of the Corn

Rose Red is due on DVD in May (14th, I think... Lions Gate) .... dunno if this is the final artwork... but it's all I've seen posted:

I would say:

The Dead Zone
&
It

I also love, but wouldn't quite consider them to be cult:
- The Shining
- Carrie
- The Shawshank Redemption

*****here's to a movie being made of Gerald's Game!!!!!!*****

Was I the only one who was greatly dissappointed with IT?
They butchered the book. It should have got the Stand/Shining treatment. Four episodes to tell the story instead of 2. But that was an early SK Miniseries, and maybe they weren't sure if they could sell an extra 4 hours.

In terms of a flat Book v. Movie comparison... yes, I was disappointed too... but on a "what they DID do right - scale"... I was very happy with it. That thing would have taken 8+ hours to do any closer to right.... but again... I am generally pleased with what did wound up with.

I'll say this, every Stephen King movie (even Golden Years (very boring) holds a special place in my heart. I , too, was impressed with IT. More so with Rose Red
