is the digital bits dead?

I used to like www.thedigitalbits.com but it's just become so annoying. Constantly out of date, and for the past two weeks they have that stupid moving truck on the board. If you're going to have a site, be consistent. They used to have cool stuff, like the "bitsys" and stuff. I think dvdreview and digitabits must be heading toward Mr. Showbiz land. Sad, but come on...

To quote Bart Simpson "Do you know what's (better)* than nothing?....anything!"

*Bart actually said scarier, but I'm using creative license here.

They've been having server problems for it seems like forever, but this latest incident only started this past Friday or Saturday, I believe.

I would think they'd be back up by the middle of the week. Just a guess, but it's not really that hard to set up a web host nowadays is it?

It does seem to be taking them a long time, but they've been saying for awhile that they need to move to a new server and that is why they have been out of date.

I don't know how they have things set up, but I'm sure it could have been up and running in a couple of hours.

They are 2nd only to DVDfile.com

If they do go under I will be sad. I don't follow their reviewers much, but their reviewer Dan Kelley was the man! Actually, he is a friend .

Well I never liked DVDreview.com...thought it looked cluttered and it was weak...could care less about that site, plus they never respond my e-mails asking them questions...the only site that hasnt answered a question of mine.

I like Digitalbits...that would suck if it went under.

dvdresource.com was good, too bad the guy who ran the site was ran into the ground by ungrateful readers.

I dumped DVDReview.com cause they were in the pocket of the copyright owners and because their information on past and future discs was paltry and out of date. I know of a half dozen DVDs that have been out for some time now that are still not listed in their index. But they sure list pornos in their index. What the hell?

So I use thedigitalbits.com. But I have never seen a server transfer take this long before.

Maybe they figured... "Hey, as long as we are down. let's take a little vacation."

I wonder how many people are going to eventually just STOP checking to see if they are up yet.

They might end up being like the friend you keep inviting to go hang out with but they are always "too busy" so you eventually stop asking them. Then they get pissed because you don't call them anymore.

I've also noticed that "digitalbits.com" works but not "thedigitalbits.com".

Hmmmm?

There's still that damn truck on there though.

Just a heads up for those interested...

They are back, but nothing new is on there (as of 4:00 PM CST).

Just a "we're back" message.

Must be a slow week in DVD news. even DVDFile didn't have much to report this week.

Oh well, I guess its better for my wallet in the long run. :0
