I'm going on a choir tour there and we will have some time for sight seeign and spending. Anyone know of any stores with hard to find stuff or cheap stuff in that area?

Hey!

One of the coolest independent DVD stores is L.A. is Dave's Video-The Laser Place. Pretty cool selection. They're located on 12144 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604 (818) 760-3472.
They often have cool DVD signings there, like Kevin Smith, John Carpenter, Brett Ratner, etc.

Then, of course there Frys' Electronics with cool weekly specials.
Several locations thoughout L.A., such as Woodland Hills, Burbank, etc.

One of the biggest DVD stores in LA is on Pico/Overland in Westwood. Check it out if you can, but only has a small used section. Also, Amoeba Records on 6400 block Sunset Blvd has some DVDs to offer...

DVD Planet is in Westminster (Orange County) on Beach Blvd just north of the 405 freeway. Their selection is huge, and all discs are at least 25% off list all the time.
