Recent Good DVDs
This weekend I watched Notorious and Summertime. Both were by Criterion and excellent.
Notorious I had already seen when I was in college and watching it again was so wonderful because I picked up on things that I never noticed before, like the superb acting and certain sophisticated use of language. I was rather young and didn't understand everything that was going on when I first saw this fillm even though I loved it. Its truely one of the great classics. Summertime was beautifully filmed. The colors were wonderful. Each scenes were composed like a painting. Venice looks so beautiful. I started to watch AI but was interrupted by a call from a good friend and didn't have a chance to finish watching it. So I am looking forward to it. In recent times (about a months time) the DVD that has made an impression on me was 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch'. I found it to be brilliant. Its just simply so creative and fresh. The music and the images just flowed so well. I love this film and can't stop thinking about it even though I've only watched it twice. The costumes were creative. The actors were wonderful. The story was rather surreal, in a good way, of course. But then again, is there surreal in a bad way and if so would you know? I am looking forward to going back and watching it again and also to finish going thru the extra stuff that I didn't get a chance to thru all the way. So which DVD, in recent time, has blown you away or made a big impression? Also what was it that you were impressed by?
