oh no not another mummy release

just checked on play.com, and what did i see but a new mummy/mummy2 box set (r1) which is out in april (nice timing eh) the r2 box set has been out for months now, but universal want to milk us of some more money (just in case Scorpion King sucks and doesn't make any money)

any one gonna buy it? (it didn't say if mummy 2 was ult version, this would be the only reason for me to buy it)

There's a "Mummy 3" in development, to be ready for release in 2004, or 05 if they can't get shooting by the end of the year/early next.

Wait until that's out and buy the "Mummy Ultimate Extra Special Ultimate Collector's Edition" featuring "The Mummy", "The Mummy Returns", "The Scorpion King" and "Guess Who? It's The Mummy Back Again"!

Hmm....... I'm in the same boat as you.... I own the Mummy UE and do NOT own Mummy Returns. Since this box would probably NOT contain the Mummy Returns UE, I'm wondering now if I should buy this box or just get Mummy Returns NOW and see what happens after Scorpion King comes out....

Hmmmm..... I find this DVD purchase strategy to be challenging at times....

Peace.....

Rachel Weisz has declined to be in the next one. Sensible girl. Maybe they can compensate by having Patricia Valesquz nude for the entire running length of M3. Then i might forgive them for the travesty of MUMMY RETURNS, an insult to the excellent original.

I was under the impression that there wouldn't be a Mummy Returns UE and that Universal had learned their lesson over the first Mummy UE. If you look at the extras on Mummy Returns I don't know what else they could add to it as it is a jam packed full of extras DVD. In fact I thought that there would be no more UEs at all. I'm not sure but I thought there was a thread over at Home Theater Forums about this. As for the next Mummy movie (not scorpion king) they wouldn't be making it if there wasn't a market for it but I really believe that sometimes they should leave well enough alone. This would be that kind of situation!

the DVD of Legend is billed as an Ultimate Edition, so I don't think that particular brand is dead.

Yeah Mummy Returns is already packed, especially if you bought the Australian 2-disc SE which also has a DTS track! So I already have both Mummy movies on 2-disc sets, Scorpion King is gona suck and they are releasing the boxset of the same 2 dvds available separately just to coincide with that theatrical release, might included free movie tickets again.

Patricia Velasquez rules!
