Though I hated the movie, I thought the series was pretty funny.
Yeah, I'd probably buy it if it came out on DVD. There weren't too many episodes were there? At least there weren't very many that made it to the US.
I remember when they aired it on PBS a couple of years back, they kept showing the same 10 or so episodes.

After checking IMDb and dvdpricesearch.com: Turns out, there's a "best of" disc already out.
One out by Polygram that has been discontinued, and the other out now by Universal has the same cover and sketches, excluding one. The Universal disc is missing the sketch where Bean meets the Queen. Perhaps Universal didn't think that us American folk wouldn't understand?

That current disc looks fine to me, as it features just about all the episodes I remember from PBS with the exception of just a few.

There were 7 volumes of Mr. Bean on DVD out in Europe, they are strangely OOP and I cannot find them in any stores. 3 new volumes in german audio only are available but not what I want.
So we need a new release of all of them, somewhere.

I've always found this show to be more creepy than funny. Just not to my tastes I guess. Something about it really bothers me...

Never found Mr.Bean funny really but thought some of you folks might like to know that a animated series is being shown over here in jolly old England.
It has proven to be very popular in the ratings but as of yet,I have not caught a episode.
The Rutles are more my scene.

Mr. Bean is my favorite British sitcom. There weren't too many episodes made, but I'd buy every one that was in a second (I wouldn't mind an SE of the film either ).

Oh yea! Mr. Bean is funny in that British humour kind of way.

I haven't seen all of them, well I hope I haven't seen them all but the three that stands out when I was able to see them on the Family Channel.

Were Mr. Bean goes to town. Haha! Loved the Tv and his shoe!

Another where Mr. Bean goes to the hospital, haha!! Please wait for your number Mr. Bean. *laughs hysterically* remembering the episode.

And lastly, the one where Mr. Bean is taking pictures of the London Royal Guard or whatever you call them.....

I would like Dvds of the whole entire series....how many episodes were made again?

I've enjoyed all of Rowan Atkinson's work but my favorite is "The Thin Blue Line". I'd absolutely KILL to get that series on DVD. There were only 14 half-hour episodes so it wouldn't be expensive...

EDIT: I just discovered that it has been released on DVD (in R2)! Just ordered it!!

WOO HOO

I've been waiting for this to come out for a while. Here is the region 4 information. Hopefully Region 1 will be the same or better.

http://www.dvdbits.com/reviews.asp?id=1257

There were 14 half hour shows with some having more than one skit.

I just love the animated version. Maybe even better than the live one. It is on CBC in Canada. I think there are going to be 26 half hour shows of this. Rowan does the voice and my kids and I just can't stop laughing the whole time its on.

Here is the website of that.

http://www.mrbean.co.uk

Hopefully DVD sales will be great and encourage some one in the US to pick up the animated series. Or heck I wouldn't mind them just putting the animated series on DVD as well. Though in Canada they haven't even shown the whole season yet.

I also did not like the movie.

Loved the show, have the movie on laser (no reason to upgrade), would love to have The Thin Blue Line available in R1. Would like someone to give me $100 so I can buy the Blackadder box set! As much as I like Mr. Bean, THe Blackadder really was his most brilliant work IMHO. If you like Bean, but haven't seen Blackadder, by all means check it out,. Most comedians can only be funny in physical comedy (like Bean) or verbal comedy (like Blackadder), but Rowan Atkinson is truly funny in any type of comedy. I had the pleasure of seeing the HBO special performed live (it was filmed here in Boston), and he also could pull off the comedy live on stage! He also has a hilarious role in the underappreciated film, The Tall Guy, with Jeff Goldblum, and a very naked Emma THompson!

Animated DVD coing in Sept

Just got an email for the distributors of Mr. Bean. They say that the DVD of the animated series will be coming in September of this year.

In other news she gave me she said that both the live action show and the animated series are coming to PBS stations in April of this year.

I know my kids will be happy. And me to for that matter.

Hi Bobby. I received your Mr. Bean inquiry. Different PBS stations will
air Mr. Bean and the Mr. Bean Animated Series in the US this Spring. They
are still hammering out the details, but it looks like the episodes will
start to air in April. Some stations are starting with the animated series
and some with the live action - and may run on different dates.

A&E Home Video will release the COMPLETE live Mr. Bean series in April as a
DVD 3-pack and VHS 3-pack. We will release Season One of the Animated
Series in September.

That was it. Short and Sweet and very much appreciated.

Looks like you can get Mr. Bean a month early. Here is an email I received.

Hello! One of my colleagues, Devra Prywes at New Video Group, forwarded me your contact information and asked that I get in touch with you regarding the release of Mr. Bean.
The utterly oblivious Mr. Bean is now available for pre-order in our online store. Get your copy first from A&E! The sets are scheduled to ship on April 1, one month before retail availability. Now on VHS/DVD for the very first time, get The Whole
Bean: all 14 episodes starring the incomparable Rowan Atkinson make up this
complete 3-pack set. DVDs include the never-before-seen documentary "The
Story of Bean," and other great extras.
http://store.aetv.com/html/referer_e...20Whole%20Bean

The animated series will be released later this year. If you'd like to be notified when this is released, feel free to sign up for our newsletter at: http://store.aetv.com/html/newsletter/newsletter.jhtml

Mr. Bean Animated series is to be shown in Full Screen. PBS requested this even though the Widescreen version is available to them.

Haven't found out yet if the DVD will be in Full Screen or Widescreen.
