HeartBreakers DVD: Worth an $8.99 price tag?
I was checking my best buy sell and this DVD is only $8.99 Brand New. Now I didnt post this thread on the Bargain areas because i dont want to discuss this deal but the movie. I want to know everyones opinion on it cause i think ill get it for that cheap as a blind buy. I heard its like a female version of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and I love that movie. And this movie has Gene Hackman, Ray Liotta, Sigourney Weaver, and the hot chick, Jennifer Love Hewitt, so with a cast like that it cant be all bad.
What do you guys think? Should I go for it? |

The only good things about that movie were chain smoking skeptical Gene Hackman with I-Don't-Give-a-shit-about-Anything attitude and Ray Liotta, but all the scenes without them were boring. $8.99 is worth it though, I left more at the theater for that and here you'll own a dvd.

I don't care if it is $8.99, you better watch it first. Personally, I managed only 45 minutes before walking out. It's an extremely ugly looking movie with an awful color scheme that somehow manages to drain out any of the sanitized PG-13 humor. Funny that the only other time I felt that way about a color scheme was with Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, which was oddly enough the other film directed by David Mirkin. The PG-13 is indicative of the thinking behind the film, slutty, smarmy, and raunchy, but not too much, so teenagers can't get in. A racuous adult comedy made for teenagers.

Well Ive been searching the net for reviews and so far its had 3 out of 4 good reviews. And from the posts here so far only 2 out of 3 appose it. Not too bad. I also talked to my cousin who has seen it and said its worth the price. I was actually thinking of renting it soon and over here that cost about $3.50. So if I figured that in, its only about $6! Im highly considering making the trip to WalMart tomorrow morning and getting this puppy.

I've been waiting to see a dirt cheap price for this one myself. It's supposed to be at worst a decent comedy with two excellent actors and one hot, hot chick. It also has a commentary track with, I believe, the director, Weaver and Hewitt. Big bonus there IMO.

Well I just got the damn movie and man was it a bitch getting it!
Heres my tale: I took off to Wal-Mart cause thats the closest to my house. They were out! I was pissed bout thought no problem theres a Target a block away. I went there and found a bunch so I got one and went to pay. Than the lady tells me that they only accept competitors prices from WalMart and KMart (The $9 price is Best Buy)! I got even more pissed off. So I took off to Circuit City faster than hell and pissed. I get to CC and find a whole bunch there too. Now I love CC and always go there and get competitors prices and all that stuff. I like that store and was a little upset that I should have just gone here first. Well I go pay and the damn sales woman says she can only give me that price IF Best Buy also had it in stock! I said "What?!?! When did you start doing that?" She said they always have, which is bullshit cause Ive done it before. Well of course BB was sold out and she told me sorry. I said "There are 3 more Besy Buys in this city. Call those" lol, she looked at me kinda funny and went up front, got a phone book and started calling! She couldnt get ahold of the other BBs and I said I would wait till she could. Than she said the DVD is only $9.99 if I wanted it for that price. I said no cause all I had was $10 (Bullshit) so she kept trying. Than she just gave up and gave me the DVD for a dollar off the regular price ($8.99). It may seem like a lot of drouble for a dollar, but after wasting expensive gas driving around, I needed that damn dollar! So in the end I didnt take no shit, or no for an answer. lol. What a day. |

It is pretty sad that you are bragging about harrasing a Circuit City sales clerk over saving $1 on a shitty movie like Heartbreakers. I hope the hassle was worth it when you watch it tonight. Also, I don't know what you do, but obviously you have never worked in retail, because no one who had would act like a complete dickhead like that. Telling the lady to call every Best Buy, if that were me I would have told you to go f*ck yourself.

I can't really sympathize with you browbeating some poor cashier who probably makes minimum wage and ISN'T an authority on movies, DVDs, or how much they ought to cost. Quite frankly, that's what you get when you buy DVDs from a place like Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, etc. Sure, they may have affordable prices and even a decent selection, but it's ultimately like buying your clothes at the drug store or your CDs at the gas station -- it isn't their specialty, and their employees aren't immersed in the minutia of the technology. You'd be better off springing for a few extra bucks to shop at a more film geek-friendly store, or even a commercial chain like Tower or Suncoast. Your story makes it sound like you were more interested in the bargain than the movie itself. And if you're that broke, maybe you should spend your money on something that's a little bit more of a necessity in life than "Heartbreakers." As for standing there and forcing this poor woman to call all the Best Buys in town to check up on their prices, put yourself in her position. Have you ever worked in retail or customer service? Would you like to be some sap working at Burger King, only to have some blowhard come in and DEMAND that you call Wendy's to check on the price of their burgers? She probably just gave you the dollar off to get rid of you, so your victory is a hollow one -- it's not like you're a Capra-esque hero fighting the good fight. In the end, I hope you like the movie, and good for you, but I do think you need to see it from the cashier's point of view, and that it's a little out of line to bully a retail clerk who has no vested interest in whether or not you get "Heartbreakers" at a cheap price. LOL!!!! I KNEW this was going to happen! First off fordsfrog, you can lick my sack and I wish you were the the damn clerk cause I would have taken care of business with your pressy little ass. Id comment more but usually I pay no heed to such trash as yourself.
But Ill answer you Lex since you were more civilized. I couldnt buy the DVD at Target cause it wasnt on sale. it was the regular $19.99 price. And since when does it classify as harrasing a clerk when they HAVE to check that BB has it in stock and I say theres a few more in the city, out of fairness, they should be called too. I told her to call em, she said ok and we got a phone book so she could call. I didnt say call or Ill call the manager. lol. I should also note when I said for her to call the other BB, she didnt tell me the movie was only $9.99, I thought it was the regular price of $19.99 also. Anyway. maybe thatll help clear up my story a little better and maybe so many people wont get their panties in a bunch. lol |

Ravenous, you really should watch how you treat people. Have you ever worked in retail? If so, I don't see how you can possibly justify your behavior. I have seen people behave in much of the same way and it makes me sick. Working in a retail enviorment really makes you realize just how disgusting human beings are.
Please understand what I'm trying to say before you write me off. I'm not saying your a complete jerk, maybe you had a bad day or something. Maybe your no older than 15 and have no such experience, I'm just saying you really need to watch how you treat people. At an old job we had a real jerk who would come in and harass us on a regular basis. One day he got into it with one of the new guys and they "took it outside" where the clerk beat the hell out of the customer. A friend of mine worked at a store where people have to have accounts. Whenever someone was really abusive he would write down their home address and we would go vandalize their home and cars. I'm not justifying that behavior, I was younger at the time, but I'm just trying to illustrate that if you push the wrong person, it could come back on you. |

Dude, Im not gonna scrape you off, but it seems you people are NOT reading my threads either correctly or thoroughly. WHERE in my threads does it say anything about me treating the clerk inappropriately to justify her either bieng upset with me or wanting to vandalize where I live? I seriously even doubt she went home that day and discussed having an encounter with a rude customer. If she did, I assure you it wasnt me. So in further comments please quote my threads so I know where you get the idiotic impression that the clerk was treated rudely.
Now of course maybe the story isnt comming accross properly and it makes it seem worse than it really was. I mean Ive told several people this story (my sister was with me and i told friends family and the girl Ive been seeing) and everyone justifies my actions and that I never treated the clerk poorly. |
