Aficionado vs Profiler

Just wondering what profiler you guys like to use and why?

Personally, I love DVDAf's Quick Import Feature!

I'm using currently using dvdaf, but I plan on switching over to profiler in the near future.

So I'm going to vote profiler.

Nothing about adding my 117 movies to another program does it for me...

However, I might have to soon.

DVD-Af is just a simple way of keeping up to date with my titles.

If I need more info on a film, I can either do the IMDB link or, terror of terrors, look on the back of the case!

I prefered Aficionado and used it for a while, but since for the past 2 years most of my purchases and now 40% of the collection consists of other region titles, I cannot use Aficionado.
DVD Profiler is ugly, with lots of unnecessary info and is just a mess.

So I propose a third option, your own website, I got a .com name, a dedicated server for a few dozens a year and I'm planning on setting some time aside and making a nice catalogue of my collection on a website.

For little collections DVDaf is fine, but with a monster collection it takes to much time to download. Profiler Rocks!

I like them both so I use them both. I like AFs simple design and it's ability to organize (I have a Disney, Criterion, Sold, and main section) and I like PROs extensive info. Why not? When I get a new DVD it takes no more than five minutes to update both.

I use both, profiler has more features but aficionado is easier to get to when you are at a different computer and donet have profiler bookmarked, I can also add my new DVD's to aficionado quicker and while at work...

I've tried downloading Profiler twice now, but the damn thing won't open.

Oh well, I find AF to be a much nicer way to display my titles. I like to look at my collection all at once. DVDProfiler looks really ugly to me.

DVDAF.COM all the way. I tried to download it 3 times and never worked. Then someone posted this type of thread on the IGN Boards (when they were free) and told people about dvdaf.com I tried it and i love it. Nice way to see all your collection at the same time, update anywhere, and category sections are cool too.

My vote went to Profiler. Since I want to see both sides of the picture, can those who said Profiler is ugly just let me know what they think is ugly about it. Just curious. Thanks

I'm using DVD Aficionado because I use a computer at work, so I can't download the Profiler software. We're probably getting a computer over the summer and I may switch to Profiler.

Aficionado works for me on a couple of levels. I can update it at work and from any PC....plus it's free. Profiler has great additional information, I give it that....but it's too cluttered in my opinion. Too much info all crammed into a small space. But that's just my aesthetics.

Well it seems to me some people just have better luck with Profiler. I would prefer it if it worked for me. Perhaps if I A) Had a modern OS rather than Win 95 or B) Bought the pro version. But it's supposed to work with win 95 and others have luck with the free version, so I dunno.

Aficianado is so much easier in so many ways.

But they both suffer from not carrying all my titles and while I've been able to get some submitted, I have one disc nobody else will ever have and it bugs me to be missing even one, so I prefer having my own page

(Since someone will probably ask, the disc nobody else can ever own is my Lifeclips Home Videos disc :p )

I agree, missing titles is a common problem, though I have to say that both databases are good with getting them online if you contact them.

I voted for DvD Profiler. I've been using it for a long while now. I really like all the detailed options it gives you.

If I were more technologically inclined I would use Profiler, so I use Aficionado instead.

I tried to install Profiler yesterday but it didn't work. I personally don't want to put too much energy into categorizing my movies.

I like DVD Profiler because you don't need to be online to use it.

well, i am now using dvd aficiandio or whatever... dvdprofiler has been giving me a bunch of b.s. and i'm tired of the repair kit not doing any good... so I entered in all my dvds last night with them and I actually enjoy it better than dvdprofiler...

Use both, DVDAf is better to have up for trades (easier to browse wishlists and the like) and DVdprofiler is better for the organization and extra info

But I think the layout is great and very easy to use!!!!! I still have only about 1/3 of my collection logged in, but I hope to finish it soon and post a link here.

You can submit titles to Aficionado. I had to do that with 4 or so of my discs, and it worked great. It's a simple process and you're guided the whole way through. Just go to "Advanced" in the tool bar, and scroll down to "Submit New Title". Usually within a day or so they have it in their database.

I used to use Profiler, but with my slower connection and constant errors with the database, I switched to Aficionado. Much simpler and better.
