Could we try to inject just a little bit of intelligent conversation into our threads, folks?

Like, for example, why do full screen trailers suck? Perhaps a widescreen copy of the trailer doesn't exist any more. Would you prefer that they leave the trailer off the DVD?

Think before you post. Think WHILE you're posting.

Thanks.

Guys, it's a TRAILER!!!!! Sorry, but I can't see getting that worked up over a 2-minute trailer in the Special Features being panned-and-scanned. The shots whiz by at a rate of about 5 frames each anyway, so it's not like you have time to feel cheated out of the scenic vistas of any particular shot. It's not like it's the actual MOVIE being cropped. This ranks with complaining about non-anamorphic menus in the "way too much time on our hands" department.

In fact, on older movies, a scratchy, hideously dated trailer is part of the fun. I genuinely enjoy the way old-school trailer were cut, with a certain charm and panache that today's ADD-style teasers skip in favor of explosions and spoilers. And in these instances, the grainy, nicked-up trailers really make you appreciate the quality of the transfer on the film itself.

IMHO, I never liked trailers in the first place. Always thought "why watch clips from the movie when I ahve the whole thing right here".

I've noticed an insane amout of complaining here about everything. Just enjoy the movie. I have yet see a commercial on TV for an upcoming movie (shown in FULL SCREEN no less) and said "I can't watch this crap!" Sorry, it really shouldn't be that big a deal. Most trailers that people see are on TV and are full screen. From what I've gathered from looking at posts on this site, most people aren't going to the movies every weekend, they are just buying them.

There is much more important stuff in the world to get bent out shape about. I saw in another thread that The Thing wasn't great because it wasn't anamorphic. You mean someone here is actually going to have a problem with those little black bars after singing the chorus that that's the only way and everyone should just get used to it. Not everyone has a widescreen HDTV so sorry, can't feel your pain on that one. I deal with the abysmally small picture of a film presented in 2.35:1. Yes, it's the way it's supposed to be, but I'll be the biggest liar on the planet if I said I enjoyed it as much as I do those shot in 1.78:1.

Why? I've got a 32" TV and the picture is tiny. It's a shame that there are so many gripes about this feature or that feature. I really wonder if anyone actually just spends time enjoying the films without looking for something to bitch about.

Sorry about the rant, but even when I take time off from reading the board, everytime I come back, there is always another dissatisfied customer who didn't get their $20 worth on their DVD purchase.

Trailers are fun to watch but not in pan & scan. Like Memento trailer and I think the others trailer will be fullscreen too?

You always have to compalin, things can always be better. Dont just accept everything the dvd makers shove in your face.

I think if the trailer is the only thing to complain about, then the DVD makers are doing a pretty good job. I like trailers, but would never give a DVD 4 stars out of 5 because the trailer was in PS. Things can always be better, but as in real life, when people complain to me about every little thing, I stop listening. Big things are worth listening to. DVD won't play properly in most popular DVDs? Valid complaint. A trailer in PS just isn't one that a studio is going to worry about and for the first time, I can actually say I agree with them. Their solution will probably just be to say screw the trailer, Now you get none and the next complaint would be "Dude, where's my trailer?"

I have a lot of great DVDs that don't even have a trailer, but you know what? They're still my favorite DVDs.

I think complaining about other people complaining is just as bad, if not worse, than complaining about a P&S trailer. Or anything else for that matter. I'ts not as if we're knocking down your door chanting "there's room for one more." This has been said many times before but, if you don't want to read it, DON'T!!

But what do I know.

You're absolutely right. I'm just gonna go shut the hell up now because I forgot that everyone here is supposed to agree about everything. PS is the devil. FS trailers suck. I was wrong and will keep my opionion to myself because I wasn't just repeating what everyone else says.. Somehow I just couldn't measure up to the level of (insert gripe here) sucks.

Maybe they are saving the WS trailer for SE of the DVDs.

My apologies for not finding this to be a major crisis. Carry on.
