Favorite Quentin Tarantino Movie?

Just finished Pulp Fiction, ("I know where the heck have I been"), and I am now watching From Dusk Til Dawn and it is awesome so far. SO what are some others of his that are really good. I don't know much about him but I do like his movies that I have seen.

For me it's Pulp Fiction. From Dusk Till Dawn was okay, but I was better entertained watching Pulp.

Gotta make sure to watch the major three he directed:

-Reservoir Dogs
-Pulp Fiction
-Jackie Brown

Too bad Jackie is only available on VHS or laser.

I'm still convinced that all of Four Rooms was terrible.

My favourite is Jackie Brown, probably because that's the last one I saw.

HomeTheater, Quentin Tarantino is certainly not that obscure. You can get a list of his credits at the IMDB, and more than probably any other contemporary filmmaker, Tarantino received an avalanche of publicity when he came on the scene. His tales of going from video store clerk to big-time director, his squabbles with Oliver Stone over "Natural Born Killers," his awkward attempts at an acting career, his relationship with Mira Sorvino, and his long planning of "Kill Bill" have been more than adequately covered in the media, so it's strange that you "don't know much about him" and aren't familiar with the 3 flicks he's directed. In short...Where've ya been since 1992?

I'm glad you're finally discovering and enjoying his movies, though.

I don't exactly consider From Dusk Til Dawn to be his film, since he didn't direct it, only wrote and acted in it.... being picky I guess.

Favorite Films he directed:
1. Pulp Fiction
2. Jackie Brown
3. Reservoir Dogs

Favorite of the others he wrote:
1. From Dusk Til Dawn
2. Natural Born Killers (although he has pretty much disowned it completely)
3. True Romance
4. Four Rooms (his section being written and directed by him)

I am really looking forward to Kill Bill. The script and casting sound very sweet so far!

I'll second Lex's sentiments. HomeTheater, Tarantino is one of Hollywood's most popular young directors. While he hasn't been working much as of late, his body of work is certainly very well-known in film circles, and has even managed to be one of the few director's to garner mainstream attention (i.e talk show appearances, artilcles anticipating his future career moves, etc..). Glad to see you've come around to Tarantino, though. I feel he has very strong potential to be a great Amercian filmmaker, and produce and strong body of original work. I have enjoyed all 3 of his films thus far, and will look forward to all of his future projects.

I love all of them! I'd say Pulp Fiction is my favorite, but Reservoir Dogs is a classic as well. There is nothing that angers me more about my DVD collection then the fact I have no Tarantino DVDs! I need those SEs SAT.

I like Jacky Brown the best, but all his films are decent.

I like his influence on Desperado too.

Well, since you've already seen one of the three and 1/4 films he's directed, I would say your options are rather limited:

-Reservoir Dogs
-Jackie Brown

and

-a segment from Four Rooms

That's it! His entire oeuvre, the body of his career, could be sampled in one afternoon. Instead of asking us for our top pick of three movies, spend $5 and rent them all.

He's not the most prolific director in the world.

Reservoir Dogs by far is my favorite one. I also like Pulp Fiction a lot and True Romance is entertaining.

I'm going to have to say that my favorite, above all of them, is TRUE ROMANCE, even though he only wrote it ... it has the greatest characters and the greatest actors. It's simply brilliant. I have to say though, I don't own one Tarantino DVD either ... I'm holding out for the special editions. I have True Romance, Pulp and Reservoir Dogs on Laser so that's holding me over until they arrive ... Those are all classic Tarantino magic.

From Dusk Til Dawn ... I loved the first 3/4's of the movie ... but when it turned into a fuc*ing vampire movie in the last 1/4 out of nowhere ... I was sooooooo mad!!! I still hate this movie with a passion !!! It's like someone took Tarantinos original script and chopped off the ending and stuck a horrible B movie vampire flick on the end of it for no apparent reason ... ridiculous!!!

Never saw Four Rooms ... though I hear that Tarantino's was the only good segment ...

Can't wait for Kill Bill ... Jackie Brown was decent but I won't own it.

I, for one, agree with Crow in that True Romance really kicks ass. How many great actors can you fit into one flick? Sure, it's got it's faults, but those are easily outweighed by the cool scenes.

Pulp and Resevoir kick unholy ass, and Dusk is good. But what the fuck is this guy doing? How many years has it been between flicks? If you love film that much, why take so much time off between movies? Kill Bill sounds kind of stupid to me (the premise) but of course I have faith that he'll make it something cool and different. But for the love of god man, hurry the hell up! Am I alone in this opinion?

I prefer to rate his films from directional purposes

My favourite definitely is Reservoir Dogs, with Pulp Fiction only slightly behind it.

My favourite film written by him is From Dusk Till Dawn.

And the best bit, Ive had Jackie Brown on DVD for about 18 months. Gotta love Region 4 in this case!!

a. bunker ... that scene is great. The dialogue in this whole movie is the best of all his flicks. Not only do you get great characters, great actors and great dialogue, but also some of the best scenes as well (directed by Tony Scott).

*** spoilers ****

The mexican stand off at the end was fantastic, remnicent of the stand off between Buschemi and Madsen in Reservoir Dogs but on a much bigger scale. The scene with Alabama gets beaten up in the hotel room and then going ballistic on the guy (directors cut & only cut on dvd) is just awesome. And not to mention the scene where Slater confronts Gary Oldman (brilliant in a small role as a pimp) and tells him to lay off Alabama. When he hands him the envelope and tells him he won't get a penny more and the envelope is empty, the look on Oldman's face and his reaction line was great !!

I rank this movie up there in my top 10 films of all-time ... I was one of the few people who saw this in the theater when it came out and I would venture to say that probably a lot of people have never even seen this film, or maybe even heard of it. It's not exactly at the top of everyone's memory. This is also a film that gets better upon multiple viewings. There's a lot of quick wit dialogue that goes on that you don't always catch the first couple times around.

Look at this roster of actors.

Christian Slater
Patricia Arquette (HOT!)
Gary Oldman
Brad Pitt
Christopher Walken
Dennis Hopper
James Gandolfini
Michael Rapaport
Chris Penn
Bronson Pinchot
and look closely for Val Kilmer and Samuel L. Jackson !

How many other films can boast such a wide range of talent?

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

1) Pulp (GREAT film)
2) True Romance (Great Film)
3) Resevoir Dogs (Very Good film)

after that, the writing/direction drops off bigtime.

I've only seen three: Resevoir Dogs (own), Pulp Fiction (was waiting on the SE), and Jackie Brown (saw only once at the theatre). Among those three, I like RDs the best, but sounds like I should watch True Romance sometime!

You think you're clever don't you?

Anyway, my favorite is the Man from Hollywood episode of the Four Rooms, along with the whole movie, best collaboration work I've seen.
Then comes Pulp Fiction and Reservoid Dogs, Jackie Brown is the weakest but still in his style and you can't really compare them.
True Romance is the best of all!
