A.i
Just watched this recently and i have to say i am disapointed with the transfer. there is a constant grainy look to the image and slight artifacting (in the underwater sequence). This is a movie that demands a good transfer and does not get it. The one puzzling thing about this is i have read reviews that state the picture quality is superb, in fact one magazine gave it 10/10. i know grain pops up now and again but this movie has a lot of it.
I must admit after watching this and several other movies i was beginning to lose faith in dvd, that was untill i watched Moulin Rouge and Planet of the apes at the weekend. WOW!! |

The cinematographer chose this film stock on purpose. And the transfer is one of the best.

Has the high quality of DVD ruined some people so much that they cannot appreciate the director's visual intent? I recall people whining about Saving Private Ryan too.

" ...His post at that other forum... "
...let's not get confused here!... the post that I ("Hendrik") referred to was written, NOT by ME, but by one "Li On"... ...I ("Hendrik") have not (yet) seen the Movie A.i. in the theater, nor have I seen the DVD, so I hold no opinion either way... . . . . . . |

...yeah!... the vertical 'streaks', the washed-out colors, the grain... ...ditto for The Matrix... the greenish tint in some sequences, the grain... ...ditto for Traffic... the washed-out colors, the grain... ...etcetera, and so forth... . . . . . . |
