sam...

that was tooo damn funny... I keep hearing rumors of sequal to Titanic, and I REALLY hope they never come true. A re-release with anamorphic video, and dts...not THAT would be cool

Re: Re-release

Since Paramount has shown they will revisit a title ( Star Trek Franchise ) I would think that their most profitable title would get a revisit...specially if they had enough requests for it.

I've thought about picking the disc up a few times but I just have such a strong feeling that no way will this be the best DVD release they'll do of it. It just seems so lackluster.

Maybe it's because I am American, but I don't get it. Do Brits not have a decent sense of humor?
I could go on, but I don't want to instigate another war. We American DVDFilers have made peace with the Canadians, and I'd hate to go one on with the the British. :p

Settle down, class...

I would guess that a revisit to Titanic will happen on Cameron's timeline, NOT Parmount's. I'm sure Paramount would re-release this tomorrow, but that it wouldn't be worth it without input from James Cameron. I also don't know if Fox has to be involved. (Titanic was a co-production from Fox & Paramount. Paramount got North America for the intial cost of 65 million, Fox got the rest of the word for the other half of the original 130 million dollar budget, plus all the overbudget expenses. So IMHO Paramount made out like bandits. )

BTW, from what I've read, the "sequel" to Titanic would have basically been more of Rose's life, post-Titanic. I'm not sure how epic that would seem in comparison to TItanic though. IU'm just glad Fox apparently gave up on their proposal to film an epic love story aboard the Hindenburgh. No joke, it was seriously pitched in the time between Titanic's release and Oscar night.

What i meant by 'maybe its because i am English' was the fact that us Brits are harder to please comically than you guys (Americans).

Imo that would be so bad..... what would the next thing be? September 11, the love story?

I read a long time ago, that the original film was 6 hours long, and that Cameron planned to release that version in theatres in 2000. But they didn't do it. Maybe there'll be a DVD 6 hours version.

That'd be dope!!

You'd think the highest grossing film of all time would have the greatest DVD in the world wouldn't you? Whorewood always wants to capatilize on success & it doesn't really surprise me that they wanted to make a sequel to Titanic - which by it's very nature shouldn't have a sequel of any kind.

Titanic II? The Search for Jack? I don't think Titanic II would work.

A 6 hour version? Geez... It would be less and less about the distaster, and more floating soap opera.

i don't know if this is not wanted in this thread, but speaking of a sept. 11 love story, i for one think a movie that's a dramatization type thing just of some of the stories that happened that day, would be very good. i know some might find that distasteful, but i think if they did it right(kinda like black hawk down) it would be very moving. maybe it's just me.

as for titanic, i could care less about a special edition. i hope to never see that movie again.

If they are planing to make a movie our of 9/11, then why in the hell are they removing all WTC in recent movies? (ie Lilo Stich).

I find that stupid. Altering movies to not let people remember the event of 9/11 but, will release a popcorn movie about the event.

Stupid.

I agree, there should be a lot of extras on a Titanic SE DVD. The top-grossing film of all time should have the most exceptional DVD release packed with extras. Here's some of the things I wouldn't mind seeing on a Titanic SE:

- a new anamorphic widescreen transfer
- Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS sound options
- running commentary with James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, and Billy Zane, among others
- a bonus disc with added interactive features
- a textual history on the actual Titanic
- any of the excellent Discovery Channel, A&E, or History Channel biographies on the disaster
- a 3-D interactive tour of a CGI Titanic (there is a pretty good CD-ROM game called Titanic: Adventure Out of Time that allows players to solve a mystery while traversing a CGI recreation of the ship)
- a deleted scenes feature with individual deleted scenes access similar to the Star Wars: Episode I DVD
- a good extended cut of the film with the deleted scenes restored in sequence with the film a la T2 and The Abyss (if it has to go to 2 discs, so be it)
- all of the theatrical and TV preview trailers for the film
- the HBO Making of featurette on Titanic (some of the deleted scenes from the film appear in the HBO featurette)
- James Cameron's appearance on Nightline in which he talks about filming on location at the disaster site
- the Celine Dion music video of "My Heart Will Go On"
- DVD-ROM access in which you can watch the film and access the script at the same time
- a commentary by Robert Ballard, the scientist who discovered the Titanic wreckage
- a photo essay of the wreckage from National Geographic and from archival sources
- the only known film footage of the Titanic to exist from 1912
- animated menu access
- the bonus CD-ROM James Cameron's Titanic Explorer

And I'm completely exhausted thinking of anything else they could add to it

The Titanic SE DVD will not be released until I, Prospero, buy the current edition that's on shelves now (therefore forcing me to upgrade immediately afterward). So you guys can either send me the money to pick one up, or keep waiting.

Based on your Tim Burton thread, I'll assume you really don't care about Titanic

How about Show Low, AZ: A Love Story? A star-crossed romance between a dashing young firefighter and and, oh I don't know, how about a local news reporter. Yeah, that's it! An epic romance set against the back drop of an entire freaking state going up in smoke...
