Which "Gremlins" movie do you prefer?
With the "Gremlins" special editions coming on August 20, that made me wonder which "Gremlins" movie you prefer over the other.
My pick: Gremlins 2: The New Batch--A sequel that is definatly better than the original. Funnier, more inventive, and at times, scarier than the original. It's not that I hate the original. It's just that the sequel is better than the orginal. So which "Gremlins" movie do you prefer?

The original without a doubt. Its darker, its scarier, and its funnier in a lot of ways. The sequel in my opinion really tried to cater to the kiddie crowd and really didn't pack that much of a storyline. By the way, whats the deal with bringing back dead characters?

He wasn't dead. In fact, in the original Mr Futterman (?) was the only "victim" not to have an on-screen death. Yes, he and his house were stormed by the Gremlins, but it's quite plausible he could return in the (bigger, better, more-Dante-influenced) sequel!

I enjoyed both Gremlins films, but liked the second one a bit more because of it's comedy.
If you listen closely to the tv at the end of "Gremlins", a reporter is interviewing Mr. Futterman at a hospital. ![]()

I also prefer The New Batch to the original although they are both fantastic movies. I've got them both preordered from ddd.com last night but the price wasn't $13.49 it was $14.39 each. Was that your price & just a typo or did the shark lower his prices today?

I've grown to appreciate the original over the years, but still, GREMLINS 2 is utterly brilliant. Gizmo turning himself into Rambo, Tony Randall as the Brain Gremlin, John Glover as Clamp, the Clamp Cable Network's announcement that "due to the end of civilisation as we know it, the Clamp Cable Network is leaving the air. We hope you've enjoyed our programming, but more importantly we hope you have enjoyed life", the announcement of "CASABLANCA in color and with a happier ending", Christopher Lee, the musical number, the parody of the original's Santa Claus scene, I'll stop there but I know I'm forgetting stuff.
I hope the DVD has both versions of the "Film break" scene- the original one in theatres with Hulk Hogan, and the TV version where the Gremlins flip through channels and have a shootout with John Wayne. |

I like the first one better ...but I think they both are terrible nowadays. I guess age has changed my tastes.
