From what I have read, Lucas and his team plan to restore at least three scenes back into Episode II for its DVD release, similarly to what was done for Episode I. I hope that he includes extra scenes from the original four-hour cut of the film with all of the FX completed (including, I fear, the dreaded N'Sync group cameo, though I can compromise if they just leave Lance Bass in and cut everyone else out, since he's from Missisippi as well).
However, I have heard that one scene that will not be restored will be one that was cut after 9/11 in which (spoiler here) one of the speeders in the skies of Coruscant crashes into the side of a building. I've read that after 9/11, Lucas and Co. didn't feel it was necessary to keep that clip and decided to cut it from the film once and for all, never to be seen. That call was in my opinion a good one. In addition, the web documentaries on the making of Episode II should be on there as well, since that was one of the highlights of the prior DVD. Here's a list of some of the things I hope will be on the Episode II DVD: - all four teaser and theatrical trailers - the TV commercial spots - the "Across the Stars" music video - a full documentary on the making of the film, similar to "The Beginning", which I've read Rick McCallum plans to include - the web documentary series on the making of the film - the R2-D2: Beneath the Dome mockumentary series - restored scenes in the film - further scenes restored especially for the DVD release, along with a deleted scenes documentary - a seamless branching effect to put those deleted scenes back into the movie to have a big mega-cut of the film - running audio commentary track by George Lucas, Rick McCallum, Jonathan Hales, and Ben Burtt, among others - Easter egg options to unlock bonus outtakes on either disc and for characters to pop up after delayed menu screens - varied DVD menu options for each of the planets in the film: Tatooine, Coruscant, Naboo, Geonosis, and Kamino - foreign language options for the film (similar to the Spanish-language version of Episode I) - Dolby 5.1 Digital Sound and DTS sound Anything else to add that should be on the DVD?

Actually the DVD is going to be out pretty soon. Lucas has been working on the DVD while making the movie, intending to release it this year.

Just seen it here in the UK, and I must admit I really enjoyed it (with the exception of the C3P0 scens owards the end)
I think/hope StarWars is back on track as I rate this one second only to TESB. Anyhow, I hope all of the above features make it. I've heard the hour long documentary is there, and this time it's going to be called "The Middle". MY biggest hope is for seamless branching!

Will they do a direct-digital transfer? Rick McCallum said they didn't use the DLP transfer for Episode I because it was a film, and there was a certain look they wanted to achieve. I'm wondering whether they will directly convert the digital images to MPEG-2 for DVD or do a film transfer and then transfer that for DVD.
A direct-digital transfer would look really nice, but I'm not sure if it would look like a film (and therefore be inconsistent with the look of Ep. I and other films). Whichever way they go with it, I just hope they lay off the edge enhancement this time. BWilliams, don't you mean Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES (discrete)? ![]() |

They better include the lightsaber fight they cut out!!!
Darth Tyranus is suppose to duel wield lightsabers and fight Yoda. Instead they cut out the duel wield part and just left in one-on-one. I have the new star wars card game and there is a picture of Darth Tyranus duel weilding lightsabers!!! They can cut out the C-GPO err C-3PO part where he goes CGI on us. That was ridiculous. |

I'll admit, I don't know much about DTS, DTS EX, DTS Extreme, call it what it is, it's only because I've never seen a film in DTS before, though I have heard a little about it. As long as it has a Dolby 5.1 Digital Sound set-up to it, and even with a Dolby 2.0 surround, that'll work for me. I know some people enjoy the DTS sound, and I think that's something they deserve to see it in.

Guys just wanted to share with everyone that I work for the local Wal-mart here and came across a tentative release date for the DVD which is November 26, 2002. Just to let everyone know tentative dates for Spiderman are November 5, 2002 and for Men in Black II on November 19, 2002. Ususally when these come down on the pipeline at our stores it's a pretty good chance it will come to pass. They don't put it on there until they get a confirmation from the studios.

I really enjoyed Episode II and was extremely entertained (seen it 3 times in theaters already, but that is it for me). There were of course some things I think should've been left out, such as most of the C-3PO wannabe jokes, and some things which should have been in - more action during the first half of the movie.
However, for the DVD, I would expect the stuff that was in the Episode I DVD and MORE! Seamless branching would be great. I can't wait to see more of the lightsaber battle at the end that was cut. When I get this DVD I am going to sit down one day and watch the end of the movie over and over again. I couldn't stop laughing in the theater during the Yoda fight. Not that it was bad, or corny just that it was so damn cool.

Since I know the audio/visuals will be terrific,
all I can ask for are..... - Commentary - Documentary (like on Episode 1) - Deleted Scenes (finished for this dvd) - Deleted Scenes documentary and I am sure there will be more! ![]()
