Well I perosionaly think all of the Five-Star Collection Two Disc set covers suck. Okay well they don't all suck. But the "Die Hard 1-3" & "ID4" were only ok. "Sound of Music" and that one Gene Hackman movie that is 5-star those covers suck. i wonder wtf fox's problem is when it come to these sets.

The thing that doesn't really make sense about the cover is it shows the bus like it's soaring through a big giant wall of fire, yet this never happened in the movie. Oh sure, it blew the hell up at the end but it didn't do it at the end of the jump.

I don't think it's that horrid. Comparing it to the original coverart of the letterbox bare-bones release, it surely isn't any worse.

Don't forget the great Five Star Collection cover of Altman's M*A*S*H.

Other covers

damian: LOL, i never thought of that
kenshiro: how do you attach your pictures?

i was just expecting the original poster to be on the cover (the picture was an image i saved AGES ago), and at first i thought the new one looked kinda crap. now i reckon it looks cool, but i still prefer the original.

Something else that bugs me about the new one is the stupid font they used for the title. They shoulda kept the original.

i found an image of an r2 Speed in FightClub-style packaging:

I don't mind the Five Star Collection Covers. I put the insert that came inside of 'The Sound of Music' over the silver cover. I just prefer that over the silver. I have to check the other Five Star Collection and see if they have insert. I am slow. I just recently discovered this with Donnie Darko . The insert in that disc has a better cover art. I think that may be the original poster for the film.

I remember the other members mentioning inserts. I think that is a great idea and the if the studios are going to issue a different cover than the original poster for the film, they should offer the option as an insert.

Oh, BTW, I am looking forward to getting the Speed DVD. Haven't seen this film since we watched it at the cinema. IT ROCKS!

Keanu looks like he's watching some weird sex-people or something in the 5-star cover release. "What ARE they doing?" he's thinking.

At least in the theatrcial/original artwork, he looks tough and unfazed that a fire-ball or bus is hurtling toweards him.

I personally didn't have a problem with the exploding flying bus - it encapsulates the feel of the movie well.

I hate it when the "mirror" images. They mirror the bus. Also, why not just keep the original poster? Evertime i look at it, i know it's Speed. When I look at the new cover, i got no idea. And I prefer the ORIGINAL font.

The thing is, it's not that the new one is uglier, it's just that, KEEP THE ORIGINAL!!
