Releases For 5/21
I see there hasn't been a thread about this week's upcoming DVDs yet, so I thought since it's only a few days away I might go ahead and start one (I hope 1138 doesn't mind):
(List courtesy of Hollywood Bitchslap) Looks like only How High for me for this week.

I don't really have any planned purchases for Tuesday. I'm not the biggest fan of Legend or Tom Cruise, but just for the hell of it, I may very well get it Tuesday.
I'm looking forward to May 28th: 2 of my favorite Stephen King movies are finally coming to dvd: Silver Bullet and Graveyard Shift. About damn time Paramount! |

Billboard Dad How High It Takes Two Memento LE Sex & The City Season 3 (but I now, don't own any of the seasons, maybe when I am on my own in 2 years, I'll pick all 3 + the season to be released up...)

Got my order today. Watched Eyewitness. Very good film. It's a remake of a classic called 'The Window' about a boy who witnesses a killing and the killers go after him. Good suspense. Cheers to Anchor Bay for releasing another little known gem with good treatment. Even has commentary and I got it for $13.99 Looking forward to watching Vanilla Sky tonight ![]() |

Well, lately I've been doing something that is quite unheard of on this forum, I've been - gasp! - cutting back on my DVD spending ^_^
This past year (since Jan. 2002), I've only bought 4 (!) DVDs... 1. "Pink Floyd's The Wall" 2. "Rebecca" (Criterion) 3. "Mulholland Drive" and 4. "From Hell" Amazing, isn't it? I'm quite proud of myself, but there ARE some great releases coming, so who knows, I might not be able to keep this up for long! It's cool that "Lantana" is coming out - I must have totally missed that DVD announcement, but I saw the film in the theatre and it was a mighty fine quality flick (added to that, I saw it on my first date with my really hot boyfriend! ^_^). I'm considering getting the "Memento" limited edition. I held out on buying the first one because I knew there would most likely be a better edition and - here it is! In any case, the real special day for me is going to be June 18th, when the SE of one of my favorite films of all time, "Blue Velvet" is released, along with - finally - "UHF"!!! Okay, that's far too much babbling for me, I'll have to stop now, I bid you all adieu! Thanx, Brook

Oh! One more thing! Those of you planning on purchasing "Vanilla Sky"- if you don't already have it, you should consider purchasing "Abre Los Ojos" along with it (or even better, INSTEAD OF IT!). I found it for only $8, so it's not like it'll put a big dent in your bank account, and once you own it, you'll be able to compare and contrast "Vanilla" with the original! Or, of course, if you find the entire idea of remaking great foreign film completely stupid (as I do), just buy "Abre Los Ojos"!*
Thanx, Brook *Let it be noted that Alejandro Amenαbar (the director of "Abre Los Ojos") loved "Vanilla Sky", so it can't be all bad, but I still find the idea incredibly proposterous (stubbourn me!)

hmmmm...
Not much for me this week, then. I already own "Memento" and don't feel like playing games to watch a movie or get an extra anyway. Besides, the original disc was perfect; the feature was good and there was lots of content (including the original website, a far-too-uncommon ocurrance on discs.) The only thing that even makes me wallet tingle is "Silent Running", and I won't be able to afford that puppy for another week or so.
