DVD's on Moratorium?
I'm assuming that Moratorium (temporary ban/suspension) is basically when a studio releases a bare bones edition of the film & discontinues the SE of it.
If so then, is there a complete list somewhere of the films that have been placed on Moratorium/Discontinued? Because some titles w/great extras have just been announced & I hadn't picked them up yet...money issues. I know of some of the biggies like Cast Away, Close Encounters, Fight Club & Seven, but I just found out about the Bruce Lee Box Set. So is there a place/site that list all the discontinued DVDs? Thanks.

It's like what they are going to be doing to E.T. It will be available for 10 weeks then placed on Moratorium indefinitely. Orders from stores will stop being taken at the end of the year and any stock that is left in stores will be sold until all supply is depleted. You may still be able to find stock in some stores, but after that cut-off date, stores will no longer be able to get the title in from the company producing the discs. If they are just discontinuing a Special Edition and releasing a bare-bones version then the SE is going OOP, but the movie is still available so it's not a Moratorium situation. Disney does that all the time with their movies. They are placed "back in the Disney Vault 'forever'"* *Forever being until they need more money and then they'll bring them out again. :p Last edited by dvd-fanman : 06-09-2002 at 09:00 AM. |

don't know any sites that list them, but the bond dvds from MGM have gone on moratorium. criterion dvds often go out of print because of licensing, and then you get fox and columbia who are replacing their two-disc sets with one-disc versions.
