I had heard some weird rumour about the master negative of this film being lost forever, and so it would never again be released on video. Was that B.S., or have they worked around it somehow?

As long as the video/audio stomps all over the shitty VHS version, I'll be a happy man. Near Dark is my favorite vampire film of the last twenty years.
