Top Gun Special Edition

I don't know if it has been posted before but does anyone know of a Top Gun Special edition in the works? If not I guess I will have to just keep my Widescreen VHS of it b/c it is not worth buying on Dvd in my opinion as of now.

I've haerd rumors but nothing definite, don't buy the curent DVD the video is so-so and the audio sucks for a movie with so much of a chance to have a great soundtrack, it's not worth getting.

There must be plans for SE re-releases of many Buena Vista movies... they are begging for it!
Top Gun, Con Air, Enemy of the State, Face/off, Crimson Tide, etc.

Region 4 has gotten some new 'special editions' of these with 16x9 enhancement, but for the most part aren't the full-blown SEs they could be. i suspect their features will be combined with more stuff like commentaries for future region 1 re-releases.

Top Gun and Face/Off are Paramount, not Buena Vista.

I was thinking of the region 4 releases, which are by BV (over here they seem to release all the Bruckheimer movies). Anyhow, both studios should make re-releases!

Top Gun really deserves SE treatment, Last year a site (maybe thedigitalbits?) said it would be out by the end of the year, now we are in the middle of this year and still nothing. Its a shame its a Paramount movie because they arent big on rereleases with the exception of Star Trek...
