Desperado/El Mariachi Double Feature - How's the quality??

I have Desperado and El Mariachi on laserdisc and I would like to upgrade to the dvd's, but I was wondering if anyone has the double feature combo disc? Seems like a lot of stuff crammed onto 1 disc, is this double sided or what? Plus it has commentaries, featurettes, a short film and numerous other extras. I was wondering if it was better to buy these movies separately in terms of quality of compression or if this double feature disc looks good?

Yes it is double sided and a great deal. Both films look good, well as good as El Mariachi could look considering the budget and the extra little making of segments are pretty good. I own the original Desperado and saw no difference between it and the double pack. But keep in mind that Desperado has a superbit, so if that's your thing. I'm extremely happy with it though.

I would really love to get the superbit actually, but I love the commentary and extras too much to go without them so I guess I will go for this double feature if the quality if up to snuff. Good to hear it's on 2 sides, that eases my mind a bit.

Anyone else have any opinions on this before I make my decision?

Thanks for the quick response. I'm practically on the phone to Columbia House with my selections

The quality seems good to me, although I have the belittling 27" TV to make my claim on. The extras are a little skimpy but what there is is GOOD. The commentaries and 10-minute film schools are priceless.

I upgraded from the Desperado LD to the Superbit. Drool. It's absolutely fantastic. This is one of my current demo discs, the sound and picture will just blow you away.

El Mariachi, well, I figure my LD is pretty much as good as it's going to look anyway.
