Official Hal Hartley Films Thread.

Though i seriously doubt that any of you has heard from the guy.

His films are a gem of indepent cinema.

To light you up a little bit here is filmography
1:The Unbeliveable Truth
2:Simple Men
3:Trust
4:Surving Desire
5:Amateur
6:Flirt
7:Henry Fool
8:The Book of Life
9:Henry Fool
10: No Such Thing.

His best film is without a doubt Henry Fool or Simple Men
His worst No Such Thing (well not horrible, but not quite good) and Flirt.

I am a HUGE fan of the Hartley films:

- Henry Fool
and
- Trust

I look forward to seeing more of his films, particularly when No Such Thing arrives on DVD soon. I've also seen Amateur, but was a tad disappointed in comparision to my 2 favorites of his. It's a shame most of his films are not available on DVD (only the Unbelievable Truth, The Book of Life and the upcoming No Such Thing I believe).

I know retroboy is a big Hartley fan. He started an earlier thread on the films of Hal Hartley not too long ago.
... where are you retroboy?

While I haven't heard from Hal Hartley, I have heard of him. I've wanted to see his films for a long time. Hope they get good DVD treatment soon.

I became a Hartley fan after seeing The Book of Life.

"Its amazing the things they do. Theyre inventing themselves now. Artificial Intelligence and cybergenetics and so on"
"Its impressive, i admit"
"Theyre cross fertilizing pears with apples and goats with sheeps, tobbaco plans with lighting bugs"
"Now thats just stupid"
"Oh, i agree"

I plan on starting a petition to send it to Criterion to release his films on DVD´s.

A Criterion Henry Fool?! FRIGGIN´AWESOME!

But i heard that Criterion plans on releasing all Fox Lorber/Winstar titles and SURVIVING DESIRE AND THE BOOK OF LIFE WILL PROBABLY BE A PART OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

YAY!!!!!!!

But from what i know Mr. Hartley loves the DVD format but he dosent like to do commentaries.

But i would love to see
1:Interviews with the cast and crew
2:Soundtrack featurette
3: Outtakes
4: Deleted Scenes

But dosen´t sound much of what a Criterion DVD.

But though Hartley wouldn´t do a commentary i would love to hear one with his cast and crew.

AND HENRY FOOL is schedchuled for an early 2003 release!!!!!!

Out of the Hartley films I've seen..."Trust" and "Simple Men" are my favorites.

I especially enjoyed "Trust" the most! Great screenwriter! I look forward to releases of more of his films on DVD!
